In June, Iraqi forces embarked on an operation to liberate the city of Fallujah, which had been an Islamic State stronghold. They were successful, but the siege nearly destroyed the city and claimed thousands of civilian lives.
Four months later, families are slowly starting to return to Fallujah. But as they enter the city, they are forced to undergo intense security checks to ensure they don’t have ties to IS.
VICE News correspondent Seb Walker met with some of the families who are now coming home.
