Tens of thousands of people have signed an open letter to the French president, Emmanuel Macron, urging him to intervene in the controversial case of Vincent Lambert – former psychiatric nurse whose life support systems are being switched off, almost 11 years after a car crash left him in a vegetative state with no hope of recovery.
