Few acts showcase drum & bass’s exciting creative scope with the same skillish vibrancy as June Miller.
Since signing to Ram Records a year ago, the Dutch/Anglo duo have locked themselves away in their Utrecht HQ working on a series of mindblowing creations. Deep in sonic solitude, they’ve pushed themselves to whole new levels… As proved by the stunning ‘Empathy’ and ‘Operation Ivy’. Both pivotal tracks on Andy C’s explosively extensive ‘Nightlife 6’ opus, these cuts represent June Miller’s chiselled production skills like never before.
We kick off with ‘Empathy’. Igniting with a surging sense of soul, the unity of timeless synths and spellbinding vocals set a smouldering scene that’s suddenly shattered into gnarled fragments when the drop lands. An overwhelming bass riff scuffs across the blistering breakbeats to create a thunderous groove. Instant riot material, this has been tried and tested by Andy C since the summer, each airing causing unparalleled commotion in its wake.
‘Operation Ivy’ complements the carnage perfectly. A jittering, snake-like roller with deep funk coded into every element, everything about this pristine precision piece is designed to get the floor wriggling. From the crisp digi slap bass to the strident, spacious drum dynamics and textured rhythmic stabs, this is an impeccable example of how measured and meticulous drum & bass production standards are when they’re in the right hands.
Two outstanding cuts from one of the scene’s most forward-thinking, accomplished acts, two representations of how far-reaching and creative drum & bass can be: June Miller have an incredible year ahead of them. And it starts right here.
DJ Support:
Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Doctor P, Dillinja, DJ Hype, Zeds Dead, Hazard, Crissy Criss, Rene LaVice, Loadstar, Mind Vortex, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Spectrasoul, Dub Phizix, Taxman, Cutline.
“Good Tunes” – Sub Focus
“Love the soul vibes” – Dillinja
“June Miller never fail to amaze” – Cutline
“Operation Ivy is the one for me, big up guys” – S.P.Y

Meet Malgosia Fiebig, the city of Utrecht’s first woman carillonneur who is on a mission to make the centuries-old instrument more accessible by playing tributes to artists such as French musical legend Charles Aznavour and others.
John en Inez Meijers (modelkwekers), Bart Vollenberg (cannabis connect), August de Loor ( Adviesburo Drugs), Peter Hendriks (Avites)
Peter Hendriks
In relative silence, Peter Hendriks has been building a small coffeeshop empire in Limburg since the 1980s. His four coffeeshops in Sittard and Roermond are an example for the branch. In 2017 he founded Avites, Alliance of Integer Shops and Growers, who strives to ‘recruit as many cooperators as possible in the coffee shop branch and to jointly resolve the back door problem’.
John Meijers
By the Dutch press they were baptized ‘The model weed growers from Bierum‘, but their heroic struggle to break the deadlock around the back door brought them to the edge of the abyss. John and Ines cultivated in all openness and informed all authorities about their activities. They paid their electricity and even taxed on the profits, cultivated safely and without pesticides and only delivered invoices to two licensed coffee shops. Still, the breakthrough was not forthcoming. Now John and Ines hope to participate in the experiment with regulated cannabis cultivation with their foundation JoinUs.
Since becoming the first street worker in the Netherlands in 1970, August de Loor has been involved with drugs and drugs policy in Amsterdam and far beyond. For years he ran the Adviesburo Drugs (Drugs Advisory Office) and pioneered a series of harm reduction initiatives, including XTC testing at parties, the Safe House campaign, heroin user rooms and the cannabis coffeeshop as a crucial part of drug policy. August is not only critical of the government and the addiction care industry, but also for the coffeeshop industry. In December 2017, he received the prestigious Frans Banninck Cocq Award for his important contribution to the Amsterdam, national and international drug policy.
Bart Vollenberg
Bart holds a unique position in the coffeeshop industry: he owns two coffeeshops in Almere and Lelystad, is a board member of the two national coffeeshop unions PCN and BCD and he founded the Epicurus Foundation, a think tank on regulation of the cannabis market. Epicurus has organized two well-attended conferences in Utrecht -‘The Transparant Chain I and II’- and took the initiative for the Grass Poll survey and Cannabis Connect, which now represents over 220 coffeeshops.
