Thousands of Venezuelans break through barricades on Colombian border bridge after flooding

Thousands of Venezuelans broke through barricades on a bridge linking Venezuela and Colombia on Tuesday, according to the migration office in Bogota.

The bridge was blockaded in February, when Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro ordered the military to put up barricades to stop US-backed attempts to bring humanitarian aid into the country. Many Venezuelans used unofficial crossings over the Tachira River instead. However, recent torrential rains made that impossible.
