London Elektricity – Build A Better World (feat. Emer Dineen) Official Video

Following six studio albums of funk-driven loungecore, Hospital Records’ head honcho London Elektricity embarks on the boldest musical adventure of his 30-year career with his seventh long-player ‘Building Better Worlds’.

It began in a Forest Hill cafe in 2017 where London Elektricity adoringly browsed through a series of Benjamin Beech’s photography of perfectly untouched, derelict buildings and towns in Japan, Taiwan and China. “Many of the images show what has been, what could have been and what will be. The duality of beauty and melancholia within appealed to me immensely.” Each track was married to a photo, to join the sights to sounds from each of his tales of ‘Building Better Worlds.’

Leading the voyage is the orchestral masterpiece ‘Final View From The Rooftops’, that’s been 13 years in the making and is the “most unusual piece of D+B” [he’s] ever made”, featuring the incredible operatic talent of Cydnei B. ‘Build A Better World’ is a smooth drum & bass sonnet with the vocals of Hospital family favourite Emer Dineen. “The beauty of this song lies in its simplicity, but also its duality. I’ll leave you to work out what the lyrics are really about… They are some of the darkest lyrics I’ve come across in years.”

Another special moment is the feature of London Elektricity’s youngest son, The Secretary-General. The talented nine-year-old takes no ‘Time To Think’ as he flawlessly flows through Inja’s lyrics with the ever-vibrant MC following suit, bringing the track full-circle across generations.

London Elektricity is the mastermind behind classic Hospital albums such as ‘Pull The Plug’, ‘Syncopated City’, ‘Are We There Yet?’, and ‘Yikes’. His latest body of work delves into uncharted depths for a very personal and expressive collection of tracks where drum & bass and live instrumentation meet. London Elektricity can be found showcasing this latest chapter with tours in China, Japan, the UK and Europe throughout 2019.

‘Building Better Worlds’ is available as a special limited edition, 36-page lyric-book complete with an in-depth narrative for each track and a 3 x clear vinyl, on sale exclusively from the Hospital Shop.

London Elektricity – Final View From The Rooftops (feat. Cydnei B.)

He’s steered the ship that is Hospital Records through the seven seas of D+B over the last twenty-three years, and in 2019 London Elektricity returns with his own new music, ‘Final View From The Rooftops’ (ft Cydnei B.). This majestic musical exploration paves the way for his seventh studio album, in which London Elektricity has created his own world of jazz, loungecore, disco and funk inspired drum & bass.

‘Final View From The Rooftops’ is an eccentric adventure that’s been 13 years in the making, twisting through a tale of untraditional D+B; a six minute soundscape that’s a masterclass in progressive orchestral fantasia and a timeless dose of soul.

Along with spearheading his internationally reaching drum & bass powerhouse Hospital Records, London Elektricity is also the mastermind behind seminal albums such as ‘Syncopated City’, ‘Are We There Yet?’, and ‘Yikes’, with his extensive discography culminating countless drum & bass classics.

“I think this is the most unusual piece of D+B I’ve made, and therefore it had to open the album. The title describes that moment when you climb on to the roof, take one last look at your world before you embark on the journey of building better worlds.” – London Elektricity

The founding father of the Hospital imprint and mouthpiece of the multi-award winning, chart topping Hospital podcast, London Elektricity is a name that should need no introduction. Since starting the label in 1996, Tony Colman has carved out a fearsome reputation as one of the pre-eminent names in D&B and remains at the forefront of the scene to this day.

This incredible 12″ release marks the first London Elektricity release for over two years and is the first single to be taken from his highly anticipated forthcoming album ‘Yikes!’ which is due out at the end of April. His last release ‘All Hell Is Breaking Loose’ stormed on to the Radio One playlist, proving his underground and overground credentials once again. A lot has changed since 2008’s ‘Syncopated City: ‘this is my first release for 3 years, and features the vocals of Elsa Esmeralda who graced ‘Just One Second’ from my last album Syncopated City. Elsa features on 7 tracks on my new album ‘Yikes’, and I can safely say this is easily my best work to date. Yikes has been 2 years in the making, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! ‘

Sparse and minimal, ‘Elektricity Will Keep Me Warm’ is UK bass music at its most soulful and imaginative. A stripped down ‘think’ break, 808 subs and laconic piano chords drive the main tune along with an absolutely outstanding vocal performance from Elsa Esmarelda, whose previous London Elektricity collaboration “Just One Second” has become a massive Hospital anthem.

“The Plan That Cannot Fail” on the flip side is an awesome slice of instrumental d+b magic. Get ready for hands and lighters in the air as the tune builds and evolves into a heart-rending powerhouse, built around a rich piano progression and tripping breaks. Absolutely sublime.

London Elektricity continues to be one of the finest purveyors of forward thinking, ground-breaking music and this single is a testament to his ongoing success. As the mounting anticipation surrounding the release of his album builds, all eyes are firmly fixed on the Colminator as we enter spring 2011.
