Taras, a village in Serbia’s province of Vojvodina, celebrates “Stork Day” to promote awareness and environmental education about storks, the symbol of the village which is home to the largest number of pairs of these migratory birds in the country. In 2019, the usual number of around 30 – 40 pairs of storks dropped to 25.

A nest of a rare stork avoided impending doom as fire spread through woodlands in Russia’s south eastern Amur region, as footage captured on April 28 and released on Wednesday shows.
The CCTV camera was reportedly placed by biologists observing the life and population of the white stork, which is listed in Russia’s ‘Red Book’ which lists endangered plant and animal species.
