Absolute Classic from 2004 taken from the High Society album.
Heart wrenching, dancefloor destroying drum & bass, like only High Contrast knows how. A haunting gospel vocal backed by the tightest rhythm track, “Twilights” has been in the boxes of the likes of Fabio and Zinc for a while now — but still sounds as fresh as anything out there.

Fred V & Grafix – Goggles – Official Video

Fred V & Grafix, the dynamic duo from Devon, present their debut solo single on Hospital. “Goggles” is a four-track EP featuring the full spectrum of their sound. The “Goggles” EP is fresh, fun and jam-packed with exciting, dancefloor-driven beats that should excite and unite D&B fans for 2013.

With its unassuming bleep intro, “Goggles” will no doubt take some by surprise with its subterranean sounds as bubbling bass and intricate arpeggios develop into the kind of aquatic frenzy you won’t have witnessed since doing 50 metres butterfly at school. But wait, “Games People Play” ups the ante with a more recognisable Fred V & Grafix aesthetic – full of polished vocal glow, warm atmospherics, punchy drums and live guitar from Fred Vahrman himself.

Returning to a stripped back, contemplative tone and we have “Denmark Road” with its shimmying soundscape, shuffling breaks and murmuring Calibre-esque sweeps. Beware the epic “Basilisk” awaiting at the end of the EP. This monster has a hypnotizing intro, then bites deep, with a drop dominated by dense, contorting synth work. Awesome.

After delivering some of 2012’s most iconic music, High Contrast returns with another superb single to get 2013 off to a cracking start.

First up, we have the awe-inspiring “Spectrum Analyser” with its immense intro that artfully pairs a driving, mechanical tone with bleepy 8-bit SFX. Massive euphoric builds and catchy melodies make “Spectrum Analyser” an instant crowd-pleaser with buckets of energy and plenty of interesting twists and turns to capture the imagination. With a synth hook so big that it feels like it was created in the Large Hadron Collider, this one will definitely get your particles accelerating!

Flipping over for “Some Things Never Change”, this one is full of nostalgic undertones and drifting melodies. With a vintage sound reminding you exactly why you love High Contrast so much, “Some Things Never Change” remains true to its title. Soulful vocal snatches pepper the piece and it’s full of that familiar feel-good vibe that has dominated so much of High Contrast’s work in the past. If this doesn’t warm the cockles of your heart then we don’t know what will.

High Contrast ‘Spectrum Analyser’
Written by Lincoln Barrett and Ben Daglish.

Danny Byrd – Grit (ft. Roni Size) / Love You Like This – OFFICIAL VIDEO

Danny Byrd is back and ready to blow 2013 away with this rambunctious double A-side sampler, as we approach the release of his third studio album later this year.

First he teams up with Bristol based Full Cycle legend and Mercury Music Prize winner Roni Size for the explosive, dancefloor-driven “Grit”. Bringing together two legends of the D&B scene for the first time “Grit” has an exuberant, larger than life appeal that will surely make it a favourite amongst DJs and punters alike. Dropping like a car alarm going off in the dance and answered by a juddering sub of gargantuan proportions, the track rolls out with a robotic gospel choir adding intrigue and melodic soul.

The double A is Danny Byrd’s “Love You Like This”. Guaranteed to charm and impress, this is an uplifting, vocal-driven slice of D&B, accessible and engaging and will set the dancefloors on fire with its hands-in-the-air panache. Classic “Stardust” era French House recalled thanks to a tasty Alan Braxe sample, giving this record cross genre appeal. Recalling the halcyon days of disco drum+bass at its funky finest, this record has become an instant classic at Hospitality with the likes of Netsky, High Contrast and Danny Byrd himself pulling it back for the rewind.
