Original Olympic Games outline to be auctioned in New York | AFP

The original 1892 manuscript laying out the premise of the modern Olympic Games will be auctioned in December in New York, Sotheby’s announced Wednesday. In the 14-page text, Olympics creator Pierre de Coubertin, a French aristocrat and athletics advocate, outlined his vision to revive the ancient athletic tradition in the form of a modern, international competition.

Sotheby’s holds online sale of Supreme collection

From keychains to a pinball table, a huge privately-owned collection of Supreme accessories has gone on show in Hong Kong ahead of an online auction. The online-only sale of 1300 items from the US-founded skateboarding and clothing brand is being held by auction house Sotheby’s. The sale is a way for the art broker to “engage the younger generation of collectors”, says Shea Lam, specialist in contemporary art at Sotheby’s.

A rare Picasso painting on auction for the first time make its debut in Hong Kong at the start of a global tour on and is expected to fetch $50 million, auction house Sotheby’s says. The painting — “Femme au beret et a la robe quadrillee (Marie-Therese Walter)” — is a colourful and angular depiction of Picasso’s French lover with a dark silhouette looming behind her face.
