RAW: Russian frigate returns to Crimea after mission near Syrian coast

Russian frigate Admiral Makarov anchored in the harbor of Sevastopol after a four-month mission near the Syrian coast on Tuesday.

Frigate crew completed naval tasks in the Mediterranean Sea waters near Syria since heading south in November last year.

An official ceremony was held to greet sailors.

RAW: Russia’s latest missile corvette deployed to Black Sea Fleet base

Russia’s latest cruise missile corvette, the Orekhovo-Zuevo, arrived at the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol from Novorossiysk on Friday, after successfully completing state sea trials.

Russia puts Crimea on new bank note

Russia on Thursday presented a new bank note that shows images of Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014. The note, worth 200 rubles ($3.50), shows a naval memorial in the city of Sevastopol, where Russia’s Black Sea fleet is based, and UNESCO-protected Greek and Roman ruins at nearby Chersonesus. The design also includes a map of the peninsula.

RAW: Russian frigate Admiral Essen departs for Syrian coast

The Admiral Essen, a Russian frigate equipped with guided Kalibr cruise missiles, left Sevastopol for the Syrian coast on Sunday.
The Essen and the Admiral Grigorovich are the only frigates in the Black Sea Fleet to have carried out cruise missile strikes on ISIS positions in Syria.

RAW: Hundreds of candles lit to honor victims of Great Patriotic War all over Russia

A memorial of 1,418 candles symbolising 1,418 days of the Great Patriotic War was lit on the Krymskaya embankment in Moscow on Wednesday. In Sevastopol the ‘Candle of Memory’, a solemn ceremony of reburial of the remains of 104 Soviet soldiers who died in World War II, will be held as well.

WWII bomb detonated in waters off Sevastopol, Russia

A 1,000 kilogram bomb dating back to World War II was detonated in the sea near the shores of Sevastopol, Russia. The German airborne non-contact mine was discovered by divers of the Black Sea Fleet at the entrance of Sevastopol Bay.

Russian warship left the Crimean port of Sevastopol, on its way to reinforce the Russian military presence in Syria. The warship Admiral Grigorovich, which bears land-attack cruise missiles, will participate in operations from the Mediterranean Sea.

Warships, submarines & vessels: Navy Day Parade in Sevastopol, Russia

People gathered in Sevastopol to see the country’s maritime forces parade for Russia’s Navy Day on Sunday.

Thirty warships, submarines and vessels together with 3,000 sailors took part in the celebrations. Among the warships were seen small-sized missile ships, including the Serpukhov and the Zelenyy dol, the submarine Rostov-on-Don and the frigate Admiral Grigorovich along with a Ka-27 helicopter.
