An Australian newspaper defiantly republished a controversial cartoon of tennis star Serena Williams on its front-page Wednesday, slapping aside “politically correct” accusations that the drawing was racist and sexist.
Serena Williams has spoken out about the “ups and downs” she faced during her year away from competitive tennis but insists she’s now focused and ready for her quest to once more dominate her sport.
Serena Williams has won a record 23 Grand Slam singles titles. $84M in career prize money, $50M more than any other female tennis players. Winning percentage: 86%. The 36-year-old turned pro in 1995. Endorsements include Beats by Dre, Gatorade, JPMorgan Chase, Nike, Tempur-Pedic, Aston, Martin, Audemars Piguet, Intel, and Wilson.
She’s been on SurveyMonkey’s board since May 2017. Married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in November 2017. She wore $3.5M worth of jewelry and changed designer dresses 3 times. There was even a carousel. In 2009, Venus and Serena became partial owners of the Miami Dolphins. The sisters will donate $1M to the American Tennis Association. She purchased a $6.7M Beverly Hills mansion. She founded The Serena Williams Fund which focuses on education and community development. She’s also a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
