Residents of Bani Walid, a small desert town in Libya, flocked to the streets last night to mark half a century since the late Libyan leader overthrew the monarchial regime in 1969. The town and its residents have remained loyal to Gaddafi even after he was executed by pro-NATO rebels eight years ago. Many demonstrators waved green flags and carried posters with the images of Gaddafi and his second son, Saif al-Islam.
