A man, reportedly climbed a pulpit in Sabanci Mosque, Adana, and shouted “I have a bomb,” during Friday prayers was dragged outside by an angry group of people and almost lynched, according to the Anadolu Agency, Turkey’s state-run news service. The initial panic of the congregation turned to anger when they realized that the man was not in possession of a bomb. He was then dragged outside and only saved from the crowd by police, who fired shots in the air in order to disperse the mob.
