Renegade Hardware is proud to present the debut album from Maztek: Three Point Zero.

Over a year in the making, this body of work is without question Mazteks finest work to date. Encompassing his trademark uncompromising dance floor style as well as explorative sonic journeys into elaborate textured sound design and hip hop fused productions.

Based around the concept that we as a species have come to a point in our own evolution where man, machine and spirituality have all merged together, Maztek’s aptly named ThreePointZero explores the relationship between the real and the cyber world.

Featuring an array of well-chosen collaborations of both vocalists and producers alike – such as Dutch hip hop crew Dope D.O.D, Hardware / Virus’s BTK, Viper’s Insideinfo, Ram’s Audio, Italian new blood Disprove and vocalist; Coppa. Maztek has created a cogent and extremely innovative long player that once again proves why DnB will never die.

In his own words: ‘Three Point Zero represents something new to me, moving from 2.0 to 3.0. It relates to the “cyber” life we all now lead in one way or another. 3.0 could also reference the next stage in human evolution. Where the body, spirituality and technology combine. Human 3.0, when a man becomes his own Prophet.’

-Maztek

This sampler provides an entry point into what to expect from the full album, which will be released in early December.

Subtension, Minor Rain and Trilo go in on No Smer to finish off the EP. For track three of the EP Dose and Cern count them off One At A Time, with some funky, rising breaks starting things off, before the track drops down into a more gritty, grimey affair.

Optiv, BTK and Cold Fusion enter the Void on the next track, with an old skool-feeling vocal sample laced over a mind-blowing, cataclysmic blend of live-sounding drums and elastic, creeping bass. The producers wring emotion out of even the coldest situation, and then scramble your brains with some of the best music they’ve produced to date. Dose and Cern then count them off One At A Time, with some funky, rising breaks starting things off, before the track drops down into a more gritty, grimey affair.

Maztek and Cern team up for the title cut, a trip into the unknown of seismic proportions. The producers find a groove in minimal surroundings, weighing up every possibility that their experience presents, and returning with clattering drums and precision bass, all wrapped up in a musical motion picture of space flight and galactic destruction. Everything that the future sound of Hardware is about is right here.

Chroma – Brain Strain

RH Store: http://bit.ly/rhshop_hware30

Chroma
A) Territories
AA) Brain Strain
Formats: 12″ Vinyl / Digital Download
Released: 7th April 2014
Cat: HWARE30

Renegade Hardware present — Chroma. Formedback in 2011, the Chroma crew crashed onto the scene right from the start, with essential tracks on Hardware, ProgRam, Commercial Suicide, and their very own Coded label. Subsequent releases have blown speakers and minds in equal measure, and now the Newcastle lads are back with the follow up to their debut Hardware release: Machine which featured on the heavyweight Limber EP.

Brain Strain meanwhile creates its atmosphere early on, with overarching synths establishing themselves, as colliding breaks sit waiting to release. Dubby, echoing bass paths are also thrown into the mix, and the drop is mighty. Dirty and grimey are the orders of the day on Brain Strain, as the producers let their imaginations fly and lead them into new areas. They take you deep down into the grubby underworld of drum & bass, with hints of early Icicle vibes.

Territories lays its stall out early doors, with tight, remorseless drums leading into a dynamic, well-controlled build. The bassline clashes in soon after, and you know you are being set up for something big. That promise is paid off by something huge and unexpected. Chroma bring together everything they’ve become known for, with pulsating beats, eerie background samples and a driving, energetic arrangement. The low-end morphs, the effects come in and out, and you’ll know you’re in enemy Territories. As welcome an addition to the Renegade Hardware canon as you could wish for.
