Volatile Cycle – Backlash

Following the formula set out with the first EP released last year that brought into focus names such as Trilo, Subtension, Minor Rain & Klax. TheCompound series continues its commitment to discover and showcase the most exciting new d&b producers in the scene today with the arrival of volume two. Tweaking the freedom of the digital platform slightly from the first instalment to allow us to focus on 2 new artists and explore differing aspects of their productions.

Handing over the reigns and bringing things a little closer to home – the next 2 cuts are supplied by UK based duo – Volatile Cycle. Having already released music on Noisia’s Invisible imprint these two producers are certainly a name to look out for in 2015.

Closing the release the duo take us deeper into dark territory and assault the senses with a barrage of beats and morphing bass that make up the track Backlash. An unapologetic stomper leaving you under no illusion that these two mean business. Watch out!

Setting the scene first with Switchblade. Keeping it dance floor oriented and straight up nasty, the track kicking things off aggressively and doesn’t relent until the very last. Peak time pressure, only for the hardened.

Disprove & Signal – Arkaik Twelve

Following the formula set out with the first EP released last year that brought into focus names such as Trilo, Subtension, Minor Rain & Klax. TheCompound series continues its commitment to discover and showcase the most exciting new d&b producers in the scene today with the arrival of volume two. Tweaking the freedom of the digital platform slightly from the first instalment to allow us to focus on 2 new artists and explore differing aspects of their productions.

Flipping the script on his style – the 2nd track collaborating with Signal, a very promising 16 year old producer who’s sure to grab peoples attention over the coming months, Arkaik Twelve is a straight master class in sound design. A baron alien soundscape punctuated with cavernous bass groans and relentless, intricate drum edits that will leave you dazed and confused. If you were a fan of his collab with Maztek: Bad Body you’re going to love this one.

Disprove – War Drive

Following the formula set out with the first EP released last year that brought into focus namessuch as Trilo, Subtension, Minor Rain & Klax. The Compound series continues its commitment to discover and showcase the most exciting new d&b producers in the scene today with the arrival of volume two.

Tweaking the freedom of the digital platform slightly from the first instalment to allow us to focus on 2 new artists and explore differing aspects of their productions.

Stepping up to the plate first we have the Italian powerhouse – Disprove. No stranger to Hardware, having already debuted his production skills with the collaborative track – Bad Body on Maztek’s 3.0 album late last year. We were keen to see what else Disprove had been working on and these two cuts were quickly snapped up. First off is Wardrive. A lumbering chunk of offbeat dance floor funk, executed with razor sharp accuracy. Bass line progression underpinned by sparse and bashy drums this one can transgress a multitude of d&b sub genres.

You can feel your horizons expanding with the first of the tracks: Totem Tube. From its tribal percussion beginnings, soon morphs out into a stinging, rising thing of beauty. Beats are stripped bare, punching their way straight to the heart. They are surrounded by urgent, working bass runs which are seamlessly incorporated into the track, leaving nothing out and leaving listeners desperate for more. This is deep, strident music which gets better the more you delve into it.

Likewise Deformation, which rises and falls around a more straight up, insistent beat and sparking atmospherics. Minor Rain likes to play around with the tools and elements at his disposal, working and creating something new every time he sits down to make music. Finishing up the release we turn to Resistor and the more experimental side of Minor Rains productions. Retaining his precise and deliberate placing of elements Minor Rain weaves together a tense heavily precussive track, which balances tense and calming moods in equal measure. A perfect example that showcases Minor Rains adept understanding of rhythm and musicianship.

Minor Rain proving beyond doubt this year he will become a force to be reckoned with.

Renegade Hardware is proud to present the debut album from Maztek: Three Point Zero.

Over a year in the making, this body of work is without question Mazteks finest work to date. Encompassing his trademark uncompromising dance floor style as well as explorative sonic journeys into elaborate textured sound design and hip hop fused productions.

Based around the concept that we as a species have come to a point in our own evolution where man, machine and spirituality have all merged together, Maztek’s aptly named ThreePointZero explores the relationship between the real and the cyber world.

Featuring an array of well-chosen collaborations of both vocalists and producers alike – such as Dutch hip hop crew Dope D.O.D, Hardware / Virus’s BTK, Viper’s Insideinfo, Ram’s Audio, Italian new blood Disprove and vocalist; Coppa. Maztek has created a cogent and extremely innovative long player that once again proves why DnB will never die.

In his own words: ‘Three Point Zero represents something new to me, moving from 2.0 to 3.0. It relates to the “cyber” life we all now lead in one way or another. 3.0 could also reference the next stage in human evolution. Where the body, spirituality and technology combine. Human 3.0, when a man becomes his own Prophet.’

-Maztek

This sampler provides an entry point into what to expect from the full album, which will be released in early December.

Keeping true to the cause of breaking the most exciting new wave of producers, our latest recruit: Subtension debuts his first solo release! Delivering three diverse tracks reaching out far and wide into the drum and bass scene from his base in Slovakia.

Offset starts of life in forward thinking ragga dancehall mode, with the genres classic 3-3-2 riddim joining up with techy synth work and Vangelis blade runner type pads and alien sound effects that rip and tear across the audio spectrum before the tune launches into an experimentally dark vocally expressive roller. Beefy but eccentric drum work cosy’s up to classic reese sounds, deep subs, techy percussive synth works that modulate from speaker to speaker in a deliriously insanity inducing way and strangely affecting vocals samples/effects and melodies that are clearly not of this planet.

Leaving is a more experimental track. Built around a tough half step drum beat and heady, sci-fi movie atmospherics and haunting string movements. The bassline rattles bleeps and warps like bending metal, syncopating with the high-pitched tortured synth stabs and the militant drum work to massively floor stomping effect.

Opening number AK47 is like its namesake; weaponry of the highest quality and calibre. Constructed around rough as you like reese basslines that incorporate dancefloor destroying triplets along-side gruff, evil stabs and modulated madness. The tune smacks you in the face like the hammer of Thor. The tightly coiled, clipped drum beat demands respect with sucking and blowing industrial-esq sound effects – that gently waft in time with the track in the background – working perfectly in conjunction with the tune’s deep subs and classic jungle fills, that when combined, ramp up the levels of dread to claustrophobic levels. It’s a dark, rolling number that perfectly epitomises the beefed up, aggressive Hardware sound.

Trilo – Barracks

Released 8th Sept 2014
Order Here: http://bit.ly/hware32

Renegade Hardware are proud to announce the first solo single by new signing Trilo. Having been introduced earlier this year via the Compound One EP and follow up feature on the the collaborative Multiverse EP, his first solo release for the institution comes in the form of three tracks: Enterprise, Prozac and Baracks.

Combining dark atmospherics with, ripping, deformed and ultimately brutally effective bassline science, with punchy, dancefloor ready drums, Trilo – who has previously appeared on notable labels such as Disturbed, Citrus, Syndrome Audio, Fokus and more – is a producer that is set to take dark atmospheric rolling DnB to the next level.

Enterprise kicks things off with a highly visual, dark ambient build up with shards of evil bass signalling the carnage that is soon to follow. Utilising a punchy, rolling old school 2-step beat to frame the shadowy atmospheric mastery and the hefty, sub laden, hyperactive, mutant reese baseline.

To complete the release; Baracks begins with a twisted, organic tinged melody, splashy hats, and a dark emotive harmony. Leading into a drop that makes a highly inventive use of dubstep-esque micro edits to create a bass groove where the tiny moments of silence contained within it almost contain as much forward motion and flux as the actual multi-layered, synth tones used to build the enormous sound in the first place.

Trilo utilises production techniques from outside of drum and bass; the ambient builds of abstract electronica, the bassline craft of neurofunk and dubstep on top of electro synth lines and a classical music approach to both melody and harmony singling this talented producer out as one to watch and a sonic auteur par excellence.

The track Prozac, see’s Trilo take a slightly deeper approach to his compositions. Cavernous dubwise stabs combine with his unique shadow laden, cinematic soundscapes to great effect, before the tune launches like a full frontal military assault, into emotion tinged screw faced madness. Stomping enough for the ravers and detailed enough for armchair warriors alike. A slick take on how far you can push the DnB framework whilst still retaining enough clarity and punch for it to work on the dancefloor. Reminiscent of early Corrupt Souls & Stakka & Skynet.
