Killbox – ‘Epicentre’

Killbox
Epicentre
RAMM394

Ram Records is set to announce a brand-new LP from Killbox, the duo comprising of Audio and Ed Rush who are renowned for pioneering the genre’s darker roots. Together they embark on their second album on the Ram platform, bringing their legendary production to provide another savage body of work.

‘Epicentre’ marks the beginning of this new journey and it rolls out in typical Killbox fashion. With a grinding flow of bass and an intro inspired through rising notes alongside machine-like atmospherics, ‘Epicentre’ drops into a dark, guttural breakdown. It’s your first step into Killbox’s forthcoming ‘Devine Profits’ album and it signals at another epic track list.

Danger – ‘Rise Up’

Danger
Rise Up / Problems
PRGRAM118

From Belgium through to the UK, Danger has cultivated for himself a reputation which now sees him fall under the Program bracket. The sister-label of Ram Records, they’ve always remained a centre point for drum & bass music and they’ll push forward with this ethos through Danger’s forthcoming single.

With slappy bass and rolling break rhythms ‘Rise Up’ is your entrée. Then on the flip, Danger presents ‘Problems’ alongside Master Error, pulling together a chain of weighty sub stabs and clattering snares. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. Led by the likes of Danger and Master Error for the next part of its catalogue.

Mob Tactics – ‘War City’

Mob Tactics
War City
RAMM392
___

Mob Tactics ‘War City’ release is the next slice of their Ram venture, seeing the pair draw for a contemporary trend and wrap this around their own party-orientated tastes. Putting their foot down on the throttle with a lengthy, horror-inspired build up and a driving, bass heavy drop, ‘War City’ features a stripped back yet weighty sound with drum infused bridges.

The duo, with one foot in America and the other in the UK, provides another climatic selection for the Ram Records stage set. ‘War City’ is just another glimpse into the pair’s all-encompassing production style.

Few acts showcase drum & bass’s exciting creative scope with the same skillish vibrancy as June Miller.

Since signing to Ram Records a year ago, the Dutch/Anglo duo have locked themselves away in their Utrecht HQ working on a series of mindblowing creations. Deep in sonic solitude, they’ve pushed themselves to whole new levels… As proved by the stunning ‘Empathy’ and ‘Operation Ivy’. Both pivotal tracks on Andy C’s explosively extensive ‘Nightlife 6’ opus, these cuts represent June Miller’s chiselled production skills like never before.

We kick off with ‘Empathy’. Igniting with a surging sense of soul, the unity of timeless synths and spellbinding vocals set a smouldering scene that’s suddenly shattered into gnarled fragments when the drop lands. An overwhelming bass riff scuffs across the blistering breakbeats to create a thunderous groove. Instant riot material, this has been tried and tested by Andy C since the summer, each airing causing unparalleled commotion in its wake.

‘Operation Ivy’ complements the carnage perfectly. A jittering, snake-like roller with deep funk coded into every element, everything about this pristine precision piece is designed to get the floor wriggling. From the crisp digi slap bass to the strident, spacious drum dynamics and textured rhythmic stabs, this is an impeccable example of how measured and meticulous drum & bass production standards are when they’re in the right hands.

Two outstanding cuts from one of the scene’s most forward-thinking, accomplished acts, two representations of how far-reaching and creative drum & bass can be: June Miller have an incredible year ahead of them. And it starts right here.

ALB – ‘Vintage’

ALB
Vintage EP

Leicester based ALB drops his biggest body of work to date on the Ram Records platform, after signing with the label at the end of 2019. The package contains six massive selections from the producer, nodding to the more stripped back, musical segment of Ram’s catalogue.

From the lush tones of ‘By My Side’, ‘Closer’ and ‘Evolver’, continued by the darker bass undercurrents of ‘IGHR’ and rolling rhythms of both ‘Said Some Things’ and ‘Vintage’, there’s a taste to suit every palette. ALB follows his debut with an even bigger package on Ram, signalling his part in its expansive new era

Upgrade – ‘Thunder’

Upgrade
What It Means / Thunder
RAMM38
___

For Upgrade’s next single on Ram Records, he again explores the full scope of his artistry with ‘What It Means’ and ‘Thunder’. First debuting on Ram as part of their annual compilation series, then moving to his first standalone single on the imprint, he’s now a regular part of its release schedule. With the harder throes of ‘You Got Me’ providing the more dancefloor essence of his production, ‘Thunder’ follows the same vibe whilst ‘What it Means’ focuses more on the vocal-led melodies like his previous single ‘Won’t Hold Back’.

Whilst ‘Won’t Hold Back’ introduced Upgrade’s vocals into the mix, ‘What it Means’ sees him continue this route, with it becoming a defining feature of the track’s musicality. ‘Thunder’, on the other hand, presents the single’s aggressive flip. Together, they deliver a brand-new addition to the Ram catalogue for Upgrade, now a definitive part of its roster.

ALB – ‘The One’ Feat. Anastasia

ALB
The One feat. Anastasia / Blame
RAMM382
___

Newcomer producer ALB is one of Ram Records newest signings and he manages to fit flawlessly within the label’s roster with his stripped back, yet musically top-notch sounds. Highlighting the ear that Ram has for fresh talent and signalling the imprint’s direction in taking the genre back to its more underground form, ALB mixes a range of influences to present a mix of light and dark, emotive music.

Providing a double-sided single for his debut, led by ‘The One’ which is peppered with reels of melodic beats, underscored by the vocals of Anastasia, then wrapped up through the murkier moods of ‘Blame’, he demonstrates his penchant for crossing boundaries. Together, they mark the beginning for ALB’s ascent onto the Ram platform, something which will continue throughout the New Year.
