Delta Heavy – ‘Take Me Home’ ft Jem Cooke

DELTA HEAVY FT JEM COOKE
‘TAKE ME HOME’

RAM RECORDS – FEBRUARY 15TH 2019

After the huge success of their Zeds Dead collaboration ‘Lift Me Up’ and the consequent confirmation of upcoming second studio album ‘Only In Dreams’, bass dons Delta Heavy continue the onslaught of huge hitters, this time calling on the talents of one of electronic music’s most in demand vocalists, Jem Cooke, for new single ‘Take Me Home’.

After the uplifting bass euphoria of ‘Lift Me Up’, ‘Take Me Home’ has a more intimate edge, the production duo encouraging the listener to fall over and over into sublime runs of percussive arpeggios that provide a waterfall of rhythm for Jem’s evocative, dreamy topline, vocodered harmonies and their insistent melodic hook. It’s a deft, delicate touch from Delta Heavy but one that’s masterfully done, comfortably fusing the raw energy of drum and bass with glittering electronica and the US-influenced grooves of trap and emotive future bass.

“‘Take Me Home’ is one our personal favourites on the new album,” Ben said. “We are so grateful to feature our good friend and longtime collaborator Jem Cooke on the record, and her vocal performance on the track is just incredible. The second we played the basic demo together in the studio we all had goosebumps and we knew then it was going to be the one of the key singles from the album. Musically this represents so many of the influences that are defining our sound at the moment; it’s very much a transatlantic hybrid, equally at home on the dancefloor of a sweaty nightclub in Europe or in the car driving through LA at night.”

UK duo Delta Heavy, who have been producing together since 2008, have refused to be constrained by genre limitations, resulting in a plethora of celebrated productions including ‘Ghost’, ‘Get By’ and their massive debut album ‘Paradise Lost’, which spawned the 18 million+ streaming monster ‘White Flag’. With news breaking last month about their second album ‘Only In Dreams’ and an accompanying world tour, fans from the North America to Australia and everywhere in between have become increasingly ramped to hear upcoming music from the pair.

Having worked with everyone from Cher, Zero 7, Friction, Eric Prydz and Martin Garrix to Camelphat, Jamie Jones, Hot Since 82, Rebecca Ferguson and Wilkinson, London singer-songwriter Jem Cooke is one of the most requested top line collaborators in the industry. Her vocals have soared across countless tracks, including her previous cut with Delta Heavy, the 2017 single ‘Nobody But You’.

Delta Heavy ft Jem Cooke ‘Take Me Home’ is out for international release via Ram Records.

Original Sin – ‘Inertia’

Original Sin
‘Inertia’

Released 1st February 2019
RAMM341

___

It’s been more than a year since Original Sin’s last musical excursion on Ram Records. Having debuted on the label with the vocal-driven ‘Lost’, featuring BB Diamond, he once again returns to the fold with something of a monster.

‘Inertia’ has all the trademarks of an Original Sin banger: an intro that slowly builds with its Bladerunner style atmospherics, this lulls you into a false sense of electronic security until, suddenly, you’re snapped back in the room. Then all hell breaks loose – jagged synths signal the arrival of the drop and then you’re slammed head first into an onslaught of relentless, stomping drums and rumbling low end madness. If you’re familiar with his classic ‘Therapy’ then think of ‘Inertia’ as it’s slightly aggier younger brother.

Always a welcome addition to the Ram family, Original Sin has given us something that will be an essential in every DJ’s set throughout 2019.

Mob Tactics – ‘Dreamworld’

Mob Tactics
‘Dreamworld / Convoy’
Released 31st August
Ram Records
RAMM331

Mob Tactics are no strangers to the Ram Records discography. Having already been brought on board for Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 6’ instalment and Audio’s seminal ‘Ramlife’ compilation, with their exclusives ‘Wolf Trap’ and ‘Frenzy’, they’re set to return although this time they’re offering a standalone single on the imprint. ‘Dreamworld’ and ‘Convoy’ highlight how Mob Tactics appeared on Ram’s radar; primarily because of their dancefloor appeal and indisputable production levels. The duo have become a formidable part of drum & bass sets across the global circuit and with a single on Ram within their reach, they’re looking to reinforce their stronghold.

This two-track release gives different insights into the skills Mob Tactics have at their disposal. Explosive, yet still crafted with the upmost precision, both ‘Dreamworld’ and ‘Convoy’ are intrinsically underground whilst adhering to Ram’s high-reaching standards. ‘Dreamworld’ begins as you’d expect from a Mob Tactics record – with its crashing percussive breaks and zipping, heavyweight bassline, the track’s weightiness becomes apparent between each refined layer. Next, you’re introduced to ‘Convoy’, which differs from its forerunner through its use of synth and more uplifting undertones. The range offered up on each track shows how Mob Tactics have continued to test their limits, which is why they’re a perfect addition to the Ram Records catalogue.

2018 has seen many artists make guest appearances within the label’s roster and Mob Tactics make a welcome return. Ram still dominates the scene twenty five years on from its inception.

Killbox ‘Gold Foot’

Killbox
‘Pleasure Palace’
Out Now
Ram Records

After the announcement that Ed Rush and Audio would be joining arms to present their brand new ‘Killbox’ project, their stream of releases have been relentless. Although this can only be expected from artists who have decade’s worth of experience within drum & bass, paving their own ways and even shaping the genre’s foundations. The epitomic part of their project now comes in the form of their forthcoming LP ‘Pleasure Palace’, a colossal fourteen tracks which includes a host of unreleased records reclaiming their places as contemporary pillars within the scene. They’re now set to add to their conjoined history and ‘Pleasure Palace’ offers another chapter, alongside many of their standalone, groundbreaking LPs.

Having already unveiled the likes of ‘Cousin of Zilch’, ‘Clickbait’ ft. Rymetyme, ‘Neverwhere’ and ‘Witchmaker’, which have lined many of the biggest sets over the last time twelve months, they are set to explode back onto the market with a huge selection of fresh cuts. The gritty sounds of ‘Colony’ with its manipulated bass movements open the LP, with ‘Kashmir Uzi’ continuing the assault. ‘Goldfoot’ crashes forward with the same ferocity whilst ‘Kurtz’ rolls into play with crunching LFOs. The peaking vocals of Loletta Holloways on ‘Nitty Gritty’ smashes through alongside its climatic breaks, followed by in quick succession by ‘Shoreditch Shuffle’ and ‘Delete Profile’. They both channel the same chaos but ‘Delete Profile’ expands with a more subdued air. ‘Real World’ once again ramps up the track listing with its executioners’ style, whilst ‘Soul Eject’ appeals to the pairs more old-school roots with its cranking snares. Closing the album, ‘Troll Eater’ comes fast and hard, the final climax with a lasting impression. It’s an undeniably versatile collection, projecting a side of both artists which have yet to been.

‘Pleasure Palace’ will be released on the twenty-five year strong dance imprint Ram Records and the stage has already been set. After decimating crowds at London’s definitive Arcadia show, their soundtrack is about to be unleashed on drum & bass’ wider audience.
