Aperio & Low:r – ‘Perspectives’

Aperio & Low:r
Perspectives / Lost Souls
PRGRAM112

Leeds based Aperio joins forces Low:r for the next instalment on Ram’s sister-label Program, this now being his third outing on the imprint. Having also made an appearance on the 2020 Ram Records Drum & bass Annual, Aperio has been a frequent face amongst the array of talent which appears throughout Program’s extensive release schedule.

For this next single they pull together their individual geniuses and offer two fresh new perspectives on the Program moniker. ‘Perspectives’ is a rolling riddim with clever drum work and searing vocal patches, meanwhile ‘Lost Souls’ draws for plucked strings which build into swooping layers of melody. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. Opening the door to the summer months from the comfort of your speakers.

Jabba – ‘Radius’

Jabba
Radius EP
PRGRAM109
___

Jabba makes his debut on Program and he does so in an explosive fashion. The Germany based producer provides a four-track EP which will align you with his sounds whilst adding a package of new music to Ram’s sister label. The first part of the ‘Radius’ EP’s track list is ‘Alarm’, with each section of its framework punctuated by shuddering bass notes. ‘Break Dem’ follows with more hypnotising rhythms meanwhile ‘PNGNT’ merges its melodies with scuttling beat frequencies. Closing record and title-track ‘Radius’ then takes you down its winding, stair-like beat patterns. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. One which continues to bring forward new acts who are maintaining the label’s fresh material.

Akov – ‘No More’

Akov
No More / Lights Out
PRGRAM101

With one foot placed firmly in Vienna and the other in the UK, Akov has extracted the very best from each scene and injected this into his music. Everything from his production, live presence and persona as an artist is notorious, which has led to him being one of the most renowned newcomers from over the past two years. And it’s since given him a platform through Ram’s sister-label Program. It’s the home of his forthcoming single ‘No More’ and ‘Lights Out’, following his unique release on the Ram Record’s 2020 compilation ‘Troubles’ ft. MC Mota and Urso. Although this time, it’s a return to his no-holds-barred, stripped back sound.

With the plucky, driving energy of ‘No More’ being delivered alongside the upfront, bass-twisting elements of ‘Lights Out’, it’s once again time to get with the Program. Although this time, it’s with Akov taking you into his own design.

Melysma – ‘Bad Mind’

Melysma
Under The Influence EP
PRGRAM098

Buy/Stream: https://RAM.lnk.to/influenceID

___

Melysma joins Program’s weaponry for an EP which will push him even further under the spotlight. Already picked up by a host of similarly influential labels, he’s now graduated under the Program flag and in doing so, is about to drop four brand new tracks for a package which will prove why he’s suited within the ranks of Ram’s sister-label.

With tracks like the groove-peppered ‘Bad Mind’, amongst the wavering bassline of ‘Let Jah Rise’, Melysma has left no stone unturned for this release. Hailing from London, Melysma channels the cities murky vibes throughout offerings such as ‘Pure Emotion’, given a lift by Kaya on featuring vocals, whilst ‘Under the Influence’, with Oracle MC, continues the down-and-dirty depths of his sub bass.

So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. One that’ll reintroduce you to the grimier side of drum & bass.

___

Program’s seminal 100th release has finally dropped and so far, it’s delivered two bodies of work; an array of 54 exclusives through its most recent package as well as a sampler which acted as its prelude. For the next segment, the sister-label of Ram Records is unleashing yet more new music. With it comes a host of reworks, taking classic Program tracks from the imprint’s catalogue and having roster guests add their spin to each selection, following in the wake of their colossal Skantia ‘Bassline Secret’ reboot.
Whilst fellow Russian artist Nais takes on the sounds of Teddy Killerz and Coppa through ‘Jackyl & Hyde’, Legion & Logam’s ‘Afterthought’ is given the deluxe treatment by Gerra & Stone. What follows is Legion & Logam stepping up to give their own version of Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S’, Kung’s expert reimagining of Kelle’s ‘Repirator’, Levela taking Wickaman & RV’s ‘Sound Clash’ through his own lens, Subview adding his take on ‘The Truth’ from Stealth with Fats on vocals and Monument Banks making a welcome addition alongside Aperio’s ‘Grey To Blue’. Then to finalise the track list, Zero Zero’s rework of MD ‘Fiction’ and the Sound in Noise mould of Frankee’s ‘Firehorn’ leaves a delicious taste.

Overall, it’s yet another celebration of what the platform has spent nearly a decade creating. So once again… It’s time to get with the Program. One which remains as groundbreaking as ever, 100 releases on.

The 100th release from Program has already created a noticeable crater within the drum & bass scene through the success of its recent ‘Bassline Secret’ rework from Skantia; it was impossible to ignore the project after the release catapulted itself to the top of the charts, from iTunes to Beatport. What’s followed is a massive package of 54 exclusives, as well as a sought-after collection of remixes – and the underground record label doesn’t stop here…

For the final stage of their 100th release, Ram’s sister-label will be unveiling Program ‘Software’. It focuses more on the musical tracks which Program have explored across their discography and there’s a host of brand-new tracks which pay homage to the weighty, yet more melodic sounds the imprint have also championed. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. Although this time, it’s exploring the other side of their seven-year history.
