DELTA HEAVY – ‘In Dreams’ (Intro)

DELTA HEAVY – ‘Only In Dreams’

22nd MARCH 2019

After months of anticipation UK bass duo Delta Heavy finally drop their sophomore studio album ‘Only In Dreams’, out on worldwide release today via iconic imprint Ram Records.

The follow up to their seminal debut album ‘Paradise Lost’, ’Only In Dreams’ features collaborations with Zeds Dead, Everyone You Know, Muzzy, Modestep, KUURO alongside vocalists Jem Cooke, Starling and Rae Hall and further cements their status within the bass scene on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.

It’s a work of maturity and bristling confidence from the London duo, one that should once again reap them a whirlwind of accolades from all corners of the bass-loving planet.

The needle drops on intro track ‘In Dreams’, an ambient interlude that interjects a surreal, dream-like soundscape with rumbling blasts of foreboding tension. It sets the scene for the entire record, as listeners are taken on journey through light and shade, from edgy underground depths to celestial melodic heights. Flexing and bending between DnB, trap, future bass and dubstep, the duo infuse every single track with layer after layer of originality, creativity and dynamism, lifting the music well beyond the norm. Tracks like ‘Exodus’ and the Middle Eastern-tinged Muzzy collab ‘Revenge’ thunder and prowl their way across the darkest of sound systems. Monstercat heavyweights KUURO bring their talents into play on the trap and DnB hybrid ‘Replicant’ while British dubstep and electronic act Modestep feature on ‘Here With Me’, a soaring and complex take on the future bass genre. ‘Lift You Up’, the Zeds Dead collaboration that only recently lit the online music media world on fire, gifts fans a prime example of Delta Heavy’s ability to stride firmly into the Stateside world of bass, as does the glitchy halftime stomp of ‘A.I.’ The album climaxes with ‘Show Me The Light’ and ‘Take Me Home’, featuring Starling and Jem Cooke respectively, two anthemic vocal tracks laced with as much emotion and beauty as they are with dance-floor drive and energy.

A thorough illustration of their diversity and flexibility within the bass genres, the album’s range will come as no surprise to fans of the duo. Delta Heavy, who have been producing together since 2008, have refused to be constrained by genre limitations, resulting in a plethora of celebrated productions including ‘Ghost’, ‘Get By’ and their massive debut album ‘Paradise Lost’, which spawned the 18 million+ streaming monster ‘White Flag’.

Supporting the release of ‘Only In Dreams’ is a huge run of tour dates that takes in venues from North America through the UK and Europe and down into Australia and New Zealand, with more dates still to be announced in a Phase 2 album tour announcement. For fans of the duo’s sound, 2019 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and involved in years. DELTA HEAVY – ‘Show Me The Light’ ft. Starling

DELTA HEAVY ‘ONLY IN DREAMS’

Delta Heavy – ‘Take Me Home’ ft Jem Cooke

DELTA HEAVY FT JEM COOKE
‘TAKE ME HOME’

RAM RECORDS – FEBRUARY 15TH 2019

After the huge success of their Zeds Dead collaboration ‘Lift Me Up’ and the consequent confirmation of upcoming second studio album ‘Only In Dreams’, bass dons Delta Heavy continue the onslaught of huge hitters, this time calling on the talents of one of electronic music’s most in demand vocalists, Jem Cooke, for new single ‘Take Me Home’.

After the uplifting bass euphoria of ‘Lift Me Up’, ‘Take Me Home’ has a more intimate edge, the production duo encouraging the listener to fall over and over into sublime runs of percussive arpeggios that provide a waterfall of rhythm for Jem’s evocative, dreamy topline, vocodered harmonies and their insistent melodic hook. It’s a deft, delicate touch from Delta Heavy but one that’s masterfully done, comfortably fusing the raw energy of drum and bass with glittering electronica and the US-influenced grooves of trap and emotive future bass.

“‘Take Me Home’ is one our personal favourites on the new album,” Ben said. “We are so grateful to feature our good friend and longtime collaborator Jem Cooke on the record, and her vocal performance on the track is just incredible. The second we played the basic demo together in the studio we all had goosebumps and we knew then it was going to be the one of the key singles from the album. Musically this represents so many of the influences that are defining our sound at the moment; it’s very much a transatlantic hybrid, equally at home on the dancefloor of a sweaty nightclub in Europe or in the car driving through LA at night.”

UK duo Delta Heavy, who have been producing together since 2008, have refused to be constrained by genre limitations, resulting in a plethora of celebrated productions including ‘Ghost’, ‘Get By’ and their massive debut album ‘Paradise Lost’, which spawned the 18 million+ streaming monster ‘White Flag’. With news breaking last month about their second album ‘Only In Dreams’ and an accompanying world tour, fans from the North America to Australia and everywhere in between have become increasingly ramped to hear upcoming music from the pair.

Having worked with everyone from Cher, Zero 7, Friction, Eric Prydz and Martin Garrix to Camelphat, Jamie Jones, Hot Since 82, Rebecca Ferguson and Wilkinson, London singer-songwriter Jem Cooke is one of the most requested top line collaborators in the industry. Her vocals have soared across countless tracks, including her previous cut with Delta Heavy, the 2017 single ‘Nobody But You’.

Delta Heavy ft Jem Cooke ‘Take Me Home’ is out for international release via Ram Records.

After the widespread success of their recent ‘Paradise Lost’ album, Delta Heavy’s untouchable work ethic has assured this momentum is continuing. Capitalising on millions of streams worldwide across multiple platforms, their next release sees them delving into a cross-pollination of genres which yet again solidifies their position as producers who can tap into a vast, versatile soundscape.

Lead single ‘White Flag’ nods to not only their flawless ingenuity, but also their ability to switch up different bpms. This is something they’re renowned for in the US; the technical ability to travel through genres translates just as well into their production as it has done in their DJ sets. Orchestrated meticulously, ‘White Flag’ juxtaposes a euphoric, incessantly infectious vocal topline with Delta Heavy’s signature thumping halftime beats, a searing bassline and surging chords. Sounding totally original, the single blends DnB with glittering Electronica resulting in the perfect follow up to ‘Ghost’, equally at home on daytime radio as well as late night DJ sets.

For the VIP version Delta Heavy unleash their full DnB mettle, combining faultless dancefloor production with sparkling, dreamlike musicality. Blissed out guitars introduce the vocal before building to an anthemic club-banger that’s already nestled itself into the sets of revered DnB headliners across the globe, from Andy C to Sub Focus.

On the vinyl flipside, ‘Arcadia’ sees an electro-fuelled roller that’s reminiscent of their earlier output while adding a more contemporary twist, it provides a clear example of why Delta Heavy have been a permanent fixture in sets for half a decade.

The Tisoki ‘White Flag’ remix rolls out next; a producer who’s caught the sights of Skrillex and other big players within bass music, Delta Heavy handpicked the young gun to have his take on their single. An aggressive slab of dubstep, underpinned with electro style beats, serves up an exciting alternative whilst showcasing a raw new talent.

Completing the package Delta Heavy enlist highly regarded recent NightBass signee Taiki Nulight to drop the bpm to 128 and twist the original to dark, thumping groove. Pitched down vocals hang out with menacing stabs to fuel a massive slice of Bass House that should be hammered by DJs on both sides of the Atlantic.

Five years after bursting onto the scene, Delta Heavy unveil their eagerly awaited debut album, ‘Paradise Lost’, due for release on March 4th 2016 on Ram Records. One of the few acts whose sound effortlessly straddles the Atlantic, the duo’s multi-dimensional versatility is evident throughout their inaugural LP.

2015 saw the release of singles ‘Ghost’ and ‘Punish My Love’, accompanied by their notoriously idiosyncratic animated music videos, the former of which was nominated for three awards including ‘One Of a Kind’ in Vevo’s Year In Music. This year sees an extensive world tour, and this 14 track opus is the perfect lead up, tying in all aspects of drum and bass, cinematic soundscapes and space-age house.

The album opens with the dystopian title track, an orchestral flurry of strings that dissolve into a grinding, half time war much that resembles Gesaffelstein on acid. “Event Horizon’, ‘Pathways’ and upcoming club single ‘Oscillator’ see the duo in more familiar territory, complex and thundering sci-fi dancefloor drum and bass; whilst ‘City of Dreams’ and ‘Cut Me’ demonstrate a lighter, more melodic touch. Soaring top lines link the epic singles ‘Ghost’, ‘White Flag’ and ‘Reborn’ whilst ‘Conquer The Galaxy’ takes future house into the cosmos.

Underpinned by meticulous production and presented as a seamless composition, ‘Paradise Lost’ represents a benchmark in the Delta Heavy journey.

Having announced the release of their debut album, ‘Paradise Lost’, Delta Heavy unleash the unmistakable rave weapon, ‘Oscillator’. Whereas the bouncy house of their previous single ‘Punish My Love’ saw the duo treading in more experimental waters, this double A side is a classic demonstration of the sound they have become notorious for; uncompromising and aimed unashamedly for the dancefloor.

The sci-fi tinged ‘Oscillator’ has created a huge stir on social media ever since a clip of it being dropped on NYE fast went viral and amassed 150,000 views in less than a day. Now, backed with the equally explosive ‘Fun House’, anticipation for the duo’s imminent LP is set to reach a new level.

Receiving support from Annie Mac, Mista Jam, Friction. Beats1 mogul Zane Lowe, and Julie Adenuga plus pivotal figures across the press and blogosphere, it’s no surprise that this next single only adds to their building momentum. With their previous single ‘Ghost’ nominated for 4 awards including a Vevo Year In Video 2015 and a UKVMA as well as amassing over 2 million streams worldwide, we’re coming one step closer to an LP set to cause dance floor annihilation across the globe.
