Sailor who crossed Atlantic ocean in a barrel recounts adventure

At the age of 72, adventurer Jean-Jacques Savin has succeeded in crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a barrel, using just the tides, winds and ocean currents. He has just set foot on French soil, after 127 days and 5,800 kilometres at sea, yet he is already dreaming about setting off again in his barrel to try to cross the Pacific Ocean.

Pentagon successfully tests missiles over Pacific Ocean

In the first test of its kind, the Pentagon on Monday carried out a ‘salvo’ intercept of an unarmed missile soaring over the Pacific, using two interceptor missiles launched from underground silos in southern California.
