The Chernobyl nuclear disaster back in 1986 is considered to be the worst of its kind in history, but not many people know there was a comparable one almost 30 years before.
An accident at the Mayak site in the closed Russian city of Ozersk created a radioactive cloud that spread over a thousand kilometres.
