Over the past year, 1991 has emerged as one of the most exciting newcomer artists in UK Dance music. At the start of 2017, he was being ear marked as a #NewName by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 – mix in a single release on OWSLA’s sister imprint, NEST, plus remixes for Sub Focus, Chris Lake and Skream, 1991 is now set to release his second EP entitled, ‘Lunar’. Released August 4th.

After a plethora of stinging singles taken from it, the Teddy Killerz are ready to drop their debut album ‘Nightmare Street’ on Ram; and rest assured it lives up to the hype and more. Drawing from across the bass music spectrum the TK hybrid sound fuses the fiercest of drum & bass with tough broken beats, metal and some of the most breathtaking vocals coutesy of Ayah Marar, Lena Cullen and Laurent John. Manoeuvring from tracks such as the dance floor ready ‘Unbelievable’ or the ‘King Is Back’ to the euphoric feels of ‘Forever’ and respite of ‘Stockholm’s electronic soul, the Teddy Killerz have delivered a truly dynamic long player that clearly marks their card as one of the A-list production power houses in drum & bass and bass music today.

“We are extremely happy to finally present our debut album ‘Nightmare Street’. It’s been 2 years in the making – constantly working on something, updating, adding new elements. The end result is pure 2017 TK sound! We’re more than just D&B producers, we love and listen to so many genres so this album has a lot of influences & and the results are a mix of not only D&B but also dubstep, trap, mid tempo & other styles. We had a great time making the LP, hope you enjoy listening!” Teddy Killerz 2017

About Teddy Killerz: Having kick-started their career with releases on OWSLA and later on Ram’s sister label Program, TK have reached a diverse audience delivering a huge spectrum of music. Further pushed into the spotlight by their remix of Skrillex’s ‘Ragga Bomb’, their work on Modestep’s ‘London Road’, more remix work for Noisia and Foreign Beggars’ I Am Legion project and their huge recent remix of Noisia’s ‘Tentacles’, the debut TK album ‘Nightmare Street’ looks set to cement their mark this year as a major production force in drum & bass.

Rolling on from the success of the infamous ‘Monkey Kingdom’,
the Teddy Killerz get set to release the next single from their summer bound debut album, ‘Nightmare Street’. ‘Teddy’s Song’ connects the dots with its horror film vocal, drawing for big room synths and militant breaks designed with evil intent.

“This is a very special tune for us. It combines both our passions for heavy bass-laden tracks and also hands in the air festival bangers. We’ve tried to straddle that line and hope you enjoy!”

Drum & Bass producer, 1991, has connected with OWSLA’s sister imprint, NEST, for the release of his new single Heartstrings/Pornography. The two-tracker — out worldwide March 17th — shows off 1991’s dexterity within DnB, as the A-side “Heartstrings” featuring anthemic vocals from July Jones ventures into the realms of liquid and melodic future bass while the gritty, hard-nosed B-side “Pornography” exposes 1991’s influences in warehouse-ready techno.

The single comes not long after 1991’s Dim Sum EP, where the London-based artist found success in exploring his boundless sound through four diverse tracks ranging from hard beats and melodic bass to funk and classic Drum & Bass.

Teddy Killerz – Wrong Message

Teddy Killerz is a Russian EDM trio made up of Place 2b, Paimon and Garud. The name “Teddy Killerz” has been gaining notoriety very fast ever since early 2013, when they began signing non-DnB bangers onto Skrillex’s label OWSLA. While the trio’s skill is all over the map, the neurofunk stuff they used to put out without Garud (under the name Place 2b & Paimon) is still coming out pretty consistently actually, and on all sorts of the genres largest labels. “Wrong Message” though, is just a 2013 free SoundCloud download that caught my attention when I heard the intro and got the shivers like I just finished taking a righteous leak.

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will probably be daily, or possibly even more frequently. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

Teddy Killerz are in no way shy; presenting a full-frontal, immersive production standard the outfit are not afraid to turn their backs on the scene’s more commercial sounds. You’ll find them tearing down any dimly lit club across the globe – from the US to Russia and then back to the genre’s roots in the UK, Teddy Killerz have pedestalled a sound unlike anyone else. But what can you expect from three artists who were instantly taken into the OWSLA fort, after illuminating themselves against hordes of remix competitors for Skrillex’s renowned imprint.

This inevitably led to their monumental signing to one of dance music’s most resounding and withstanding labels, Ram Records. And after their most recent single ‘Teddynator’ exploded onto the Beatport Top 100 and accomplishing the sought after number one spot, they’ve followed this up in quick succession. The ‘Hyperspeed EP’ epitomises everything which Teddy Killerz are about. Aggressive yet concise, smashing you head first through every carefully constructed break, this trio prove their versatility whilst reaffirming their position as one of the genre’s most intimidating weights.

Instantly recognisable from any set over the past few months, title-track ‘Hyperspeed’ froths with foreboding before dropping into all-out anarchy. With a rabid forking of synth and the snap, smack and pound of drums, this is drum & bass at its most raw and undiluted. Sitting on top of clashing percussion and reversing momentarily at unpredictable intervals, there’s no escaping this record’s all-enveloping force.

‘Quasar’ on the other hand begins on a false-premise. Brought forward on eerie atmospherics, it’s swiftly cut open and dissected by a quick strum of electric guitar before you’re propelled at a dizzying speed. Sub bass is used as an alarm, ringing throughout the record and warning the listener of Teddy Killerz unapologetic countenance.

Of a different hue is ‘Space Junk’, with a jazzy intro that rolls on top of an LFO-lead bassline and jungle reminiscent breaks. Demonstrating the trio’s undeniable craftsmanship, it definitely adds another dimension to the EP’s track listing. Then lastly, ‘Hawking Radiation’ presents you with a steppy riddim that hulks with every few bars. The tempo is then amped up to 170; the perfect way to close an EP that’ll leave you contemplating its enormity.

Paimon – Melancholy

When it comes to modern Neurofunk (2010-present), I like to think back to the days when tunes were purely dark and gross in nature, with nothing gleeful to offer. That’s the stuff that hits the spot for me and many others as well. Nowadays, we are seeing more and more Ultrafunk releases and formerly pure Neuro and “tech” producers are beginning to release more and more uplifting music while staying in the same genre boundary. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, of course – I’ve featured a lot of tracks like that on this channel already, but there was a point in history where the status quo for the top producers was sheer black music. When Ammunition Recordings and Neurofunkgrid were the kings of the universe. This is a gem straight out of that time period, which lasted for quite a while, to be fair. It also happens to be from Paimon – one half of the almost infinitely talented duo Place 2B & Paimon and one third of the now world-renowned EDM trio and OWSLA superstars, Teddy Killerz. From the “Valentina” EP (2010) on Ammunition.

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground Neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Since their climatic signing in 2014, Teddy Killerz have been working on these slabs of tectonic bass with the upmost precision. Wanting a release which reflected their inclination for hard-hitting, depth defying basslines and foreboding percussion loops, this next one from the eastern European trio is formidably huge.

It is clear to see why they were quickly picked up by Skrillex’s label, OWSLA, through a crowd baying competition during a remix contest. This lead to a few of their most prominent releases to date, including the remix of the certified dancefloor detonator ‘Ragga Bomb’ for the label owner, which Teddy Killerz switched up the tempo for.

And following this colossal feat is first track ‘Teddynator’. They’re unintimidated when following in the steps of their last few releases; this record is baying for blood with sharpened hooks and a drop which rolls out furiously. Pounding subs underpin a heavily imposing composition and there’s no denying its power in enveloping every aural synapse pulsating with the track’s bassline. For those of you unaware of who Teddy Killerz are, this is a cataclysmic introduction.

Up next, ‘Endlessly’ doesn’t allow you to pause for breath. A trait well-known within Teddy Killerz creeping production style breaks out in between waves of a powerful riddim. A dark tinkling which breaks out like a beacon against its backdrop, the tell-tale arpeggio adds to its ominous atmospherics. Lending a complexity which is both weighty and intricately fierce.

So proceed with caution. Littered with the kind of no holds barred stylistic features which made the producers infamous and lead to their Ram Records signing, this is only a precursor for what’s to come.

Billain – Safety Hatch [Underslung Audio]

Out on the 16th of February 2015.

“If Billain’s creative assault continues the trajectory it’s on now, we may be discussing his art in hundreds of years to come. A true individual with humbling past and an exciting future beyond his musical roots.” – UKF

Having launched into 2015 with an impressive outing on Skrillex’s Owsla imprint, with a remix of Koan Sound’s ‘Tetsuo’s Redemption’ and the mind-shattering video that went with it, which quickly went into tens of thousands of views; Billain is on strong form, following up with this mighty single release of ‘Safety Hatch’ on Underslung Audio.

With the kind of heart-pounding intro and build-up that Billain is known for, the track quickly accelerates into future rave territory with a frenetic acid-influenced bassline that’s destined to churn the dance into a skanking pit of madness. The track can almost be considered a roller in relation to his other work, but one that still relentlessly builds both pressure and pulse. ‘Safety Hatch’ is the gnarly product of a restless producer, whose constant experimentation and unique aesthetic has been tried and tested at parties over the world – guaranteed to send the ravers wild.
