“With my second Shogun installment I’m bringing something slightly dirtier but still soulful. I wanted to have more ammo for the dance floor but in keeping with the musical elements I produce, bringing meaningful expression as well as utilising my heavier influences.

The name ‘South City’ EP came from a big move from Nottingham to London. The whole EP has flavours and inspiration from my surroundings here in the capital. The title track was produced with deep sampling & soul in mind. I think it carries the tone of the release with the drawn-out vocal/musical intro and life like drums on the drop. With ‘Isolution’ I wanted to showcase my tekkier side & influences. ‘Heaven Sent You’ came together as steppy liquid number. A track you can listen to on a every day basis but also one to rock the dance floor. Finally, my favourite of the EP ‘Babylon Step’ speaks for itself for me.

Since signing to Shogun Audio I’ve already gained a lot from fellow producers & the experiences it’s brought me. The EP is an extension of this, through writing & DJ’ing over the past 6 months. I think this showcases where I’m going & the vibe that I’m delivering to the label.” Ed:it 2016.

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, six years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

SNB003 comes from relatively unknown Nottingham based talent, Noble aka Adam Widdowson. Noble first got into music when he was 16, always having had an ear and interest for the more fresh and cutting sounds of the underground. Nottingham’s bass music scene influenced Noble hugely and he became a DJ, mainly playing around the city at house parties and small local nights.

He took up production around 4 years ago when Dubstep was at its peak and has since dabbled with different genres of bass music, before finding and defining his current sound in Drum & Bass and establishing Noble. Follow him on socials below to keep up to date with his latest productions.

Quintessential stadium anthems are Delta Heavy’s forte and ‘Reborn’ demonstrates how they’ve gained this reputation. Setting show stopping-agendas since their first release on the RAM imprint, this next one is no different, however, a cinematic roller isn’t all this release has to offer. With remixes from Spoils and June Miller, there’s a colour reel of sound spinning throughout; a host of tracks to suit every palette.
‘Reborn’ embodies exactly what Delta Heavy represents as a collaborative project. An arpeggio of notes leads delicately into emotionally charged vocals, pedestalling the record and creating a musically picturesque backdrop. With the undertow of a pounding morphine bassline and the relentless instrumentation of jungle infused drums, there’s no mistaking the artists’ nod towards their harder productions. Epic, timeless and puffed out with a grandeur composition, Delta Heavy have yet to disappoint.
On the remixes, June Miller carefully crafts their take against the original, uncompromising yet delicately woven and not without its predecessors’ emotional crescendo. And lastly, Spoils introduces us to a genre-infused uptake that catches you unaware, with a steppy melody which stays true to its roots yet delves deep into Spoil’s production aptitude.
So once again, it’s time to take up Delta Heavy’s offerings. They’ve delivered the perfect successor to their ‘Apollo EP’, yet again reasserting their title as one of the bass scene’s heavyweights.

RAM Records – 2013 Round Up

RAM’s Drum & Bass Annual 2016 – watch/listen here! http://vid.io/xoko
RAM Records – 2013 Round Up

Subscribe for more – http://po.st/SubscribeRamYT

Fresh talent, next level beats, massive albums, epic parties, major awards: 2013 had RAM stamped all over it… And we want to thank YOU for all your support!

2013 was officially the year we released more and partied harder than ever before. Over the 12 months we unleashed 114 tracks on RAM Records, and 23 on Program, and took our branded bass chaos to 47 dancefloors and arenas in 13 countries… Including nine major international festivals! From London to Las Vegas, Croatia to Copenhagen we’ve dominated the dance in every possible direction. These are just a few of our conquests and successes…

Exclusive signings June Miller, Chords and Frankee ensured the Ram family’s reach was broader and bolder than ever before. Wilkinson was responsible for the only UK Top 10 D&B track of the year with ubiquitous sing-along smasher ‘Afterglow’ before unleashing his hugely successful album ‘Lazers Not Included’. Other big album highlights include Rene LaVice’s electrifying debut ‘Insidious’, Loadstar’s boundary burning ‘Future Perfect’ and Andy C’s mindblowing ‘Nightlife 6’ mix opus. With over 100 tracks it was the most ambitious release we’ve ever created and it became our fastest selling album to date.

DC Breaks ‘Swag’, Calyx & TeeBee’s remix of Wilkinson’s ‘Heartbeat’ and Mind Vortex’s ‘Gravity’ all dented the Beatport D&B Top 10 for several months, while Andy C’s return to the world of production scored love on both Beatport and Radio 1 with two Hottest Record accolades from chief tastemaker Zane Lowe… Who also recognised five of Wilkinson’s tracks with the same stamp of approval.

RAM party highlights are equally endless. Our Fabric residency and warehouse parties led to an epic sell out show at Brixton Academy and the RAM Christmas Party at Fabric was the London venue’s fastest selling event of the year. Festival-wise we hosted a full Arcadia takeover at Glastonbury and undertook main stage responsibilities at Outlook. One of the sexiest pool parties in D&B history came courtesy of RAM at Hideout Festival while our Paradiso event at Amsterdam Dance Event was the most hyped event of its kind during the conference.

We also picked up numerous golden victories for both the label and our artists at the Drum&BassArena Awards, National Drum & Bass Awards and DJ Mag. But you know the best success story of 2013?

RAM Records has the best fanbase in the world. None of this would have been possible without your continuous support. You understand why we do what we do and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for every track you’ve invested in and every party you’ve shared with us.

2014 will be even bigger and even more ambitious: in the coming months we’ll be revealing more exclusive signings and a brand new RAM website. Plus you can expect a stack of killer releases… Including a Program debut from Teddy Killerz, a RAM debut from Lynx, plus more slamming releases from Wilkinson, Rene LaVice, Frankee, Loadstar, Chords and many more.

We also have some major party designs, including appearances at We Are Fstvl, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Reading and beyond. We’ll also be returning to electronic music’s most influential event Miami Music Week with Ramiami on March 27th, plus we have some hugely exciting plans in London.

Big respect to everyone who’s supported us… Stay tuned for more next-level updates very, very soon!

Music – Andy C – Haunting / Wilkinson – Afterglow / DC Breaks – Swag
