May Day marches and protests in Paris

Clashes have erupted in central Paris between police and demonstrators protesting against both candidates who qualified for the second round of the French presidential elections. The protest is taking place in central Paris alongside the annual leftist May Day demonstration. Some protesters have also been planning to protest against the National Front party, formerly chaired by Marine Le Pen.

Protesters throw bottles at store fronts in rally against French presidential candidates

Protesters hurled bottles and smoke bombs at a demonstration against the final candidates in the upcoming presidential elections in Paris. The National Front’s (FN) Le Pen and independent centrist Macron will face off in the second round of the French elections, scheduled for May 7. During the first run-off in the presidential race, Le Pen gained 21.3 percent, trailing behind Macron, who secured 24 percent of the vote.

‘Migrants, welcome’: Anti-Le Pen protesters clash with police in Marseille

Demonstrators clashed with riot police on the streets of Marseille, Wednesday, to protest the candidacy of far-right leader and French Presidential candidate of the National Front party, Marine Le Pen. Protesters could be seen marching with banners and waving flares throughout the port city’s streets whilst armed police aimed at demonstrators.
