Convicted fraudster on track for seat in Moldova polls

On the campaign trail, businessman Ilan Shor insists corruption is Moldova’s most pressing issue, despite having been convicted in a fraud case local media dubbed “the crime of the century”. Shor was handed a seven-and-a-half-year jail term in 2017 for money laundering, fraud and abuse of confidence. He remains free pending his appeal — and is still eligible to run for office in the weekend’s parliamentary elections.

In the second half, Max continues his interview with Abraham Cambridge of TheSunExchange.com about their pilot project with the UN Development Program to bring buy-to-lease solar cells to Moldova.

In this episode of the Keiser Report, Max and Stacy discuss the debate over whether to call it Italeave or Quitaly as voters are punished by the market and by technocrats for taking the wrong democratic decision of so-called populism. Corruption and Scandal: Crisis in Moldova (Dispatch 1)

Moldovans have been protesting against their government for months. They allege that their leaders are deeply corrupted after a billion-dollar banking scandal hit the country in 2015. The former prime minister, Vlad Filat, was arrested and detained for suspected involvement.

Pro-European and pro-Russian parties are working together to lead the protests. They demand that the prime minister step down, and that the government hold early elections. But given the influence of powerful oligarchs in the country, it’s far from certain whether new leadership would even bring real change.

VICE News went to Moldova to speak to the opposition parties and find out how the theft of $1 billion from the banking system is affecting people in this impoverished country.

Formal One – Alpha [New Talent]

I recently discovered Formal One from Moldova, he’s signed exclusively on Dub All Or Nothing and this track will come out soon on his Alpha’s EP, i’ll let him introduce himself :

“Hi everyone, my name is Dima and i’m producing under the alias Formal One.

I’ve been doing this since 2007 when i realized that i want to become a producer. At first it was very hard for me to master different things like mixing, mastering, sound design and others but with a lot of motivation and practice i can finally be satisfied with what i produce (even though i’m still learning and trying to perfect my skills).
I’m focusing more on bass music like drum and bass, dubstep and electro but … i also produce stuff like ambient, chillout, hip hop, trance, progressive and some experimental sound design stuff which means that i’m a multi-genre producer :)”
