A number of ‘backup’ MEPs have been elected in other European countries to replace some British positions – but until the UK leaves the EU, those ‘spare’ MEPs are in limbo with no official role.

Trojan Horse CETA: Protests arise after agreement approval

Anti-free trade activists rallied outside the European Parliament (EP) offices in Strasbourg, Wednesday, as the body approved the vast majority of the Comprehensive economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada. Opponents of the deal fear that CETA will result in the loss of jobs, lower safety standards, and grant more power to corporations.
