When legendary Drum and Bass pioneers Bad Company UK and the equally pioneering twenty-five year strong Ram Records joined ranks, it was clear the consequences would be historic. Both have spent decades helming the drum & bass genre, becoming a definitive part of its fabric.

The most recent chapter of the story began when Bad Company UK made a welcome return in 2016, which led to them signing exclusively to the Ram Records imprint. Longstanding fans and new listeners alike have been treated with brand new music; from their remix of the Prodigy’s The Day is My Enemy, to their standalone singles Equilibrium, Nomad and Tetris. This year has also seen them digitally release their classic albums; Inside The Machine, Digital Nation and Book Of The Bad, with Shot Down On Safari set for digital release on 6th October. And following an extensive worldwide tour, which saw them take their sound across Europe and the USA, as well as Japan and New Zealand, D Bridge, Fresh, Maldini and Vegas return with forthcoming record Primal Fire ft. Sitka.

Once again, Bad Company UK breaks the commercial stereotype, whilst utilising the emotive vocals of featured vocalist Sitka. Rumbling, powerful bass shakes the track to its core, before layered pads take you into a freefalling drop. Primal Fire then cascades on a driving, ferocious bassline, snapping you to and fro.

With more music lined up and ready to go, Primal Fire once again demonstrates how Bad Company UK are continuing to burn the flame as brightly as ever

With both their newer output and pivotal classic releases still rocking dancefloors, Bad Company UK remain at the helm of drum & bass worldwide. With a history which spans across both groundbreaking singles and albums, their music has laid the foundations for one of dance music’s most revered subgenres.

Joining the ranks of Ram Records last year, Bad Company UK have continued to push boundaries and raise the bar. Their remix of The Day is My Enemy by The Prodigy stood tall as their smashing Ram debut and original  tracks  Nomad and Equilibrium have demonstrated their desire and ability to deliver at the highest level once again. Following recent tour activity which has taken them from the USA to New Zealand and from Japan to Eastern Europe next up Bad Company UK return with Tetris.

Tetris provides a nod to the sound which made Bad Company UK so infamous whilst bringing the 2017 flavour also . With a sliced and diced old-school sample filtering its way through the mix, D Bridge, Fresh, Maldini and Vegas waste no time in delivering a cut-throat anthem. Tetris defies any commercial pressures brought about by their global success, paying homage to their beginnings whilst propelling them into the future.
For fans old and new, Bad Company UK are back and are on fire.

Animal Defection – Donkey (Hanzo & Randie Remix) [Subculture Music]

“If you like your drum & bass, dubstep and electro with a European twist, Italian-based Subculture Music is for you. Co-founded by the mighty Maztek, the label brings pioneering electronic music forward into the future, and the label, run with Kalu and MC Shot, is ready to launch its new release, Shona/Donkey (Hanzo and Randie remix). Hanzo and Randie bring a funky, syncopated sound to their flavour of drum & bass, echoing influences like Audio, Ed Rush, Optiv and more, all of whom they have played alongside. After hooking up with Maztek and Subculture, they have never looked back. Now, they are taking their music to the forefront, showing off their style and production techniques. On Shona, a stirring, low-slung intro delicately glides into a strong build, before the whole thing drops down a level with a crunchy, rupturing bassline, and some neatly understated synths and rises. The melody seeps through underneath, as the speakers shake and the dancefloor quakes. Detailed, precise and technically brilliant, this is above and beyond your everyday drum & bass. Essential. On the flip, Hanzo and Randie remix fellow Italians Animal Defection’s Donkey. N4mSkull and GBee’s original from last year gets updated, reinvigorated and reimagined, as a sinewy, rolling intro moves into some electronic ground, before gathering pace to enter some neuro territory. Tough, smash-through beats come colliding at you, forcing home the point that Hanzo and Randie are at the top of their game. This one’s all about the funk, ramping it up to ever-higher levels. Taking no prisoners, they burn down the dance with their forceful remix, sending others running for the hills. Strong stuff. Subculture Music have unearthed two fantastic slices of vivid, contemporary drum & bass, allowing Hanzo and Randie to do what they do best, make bangers. These are guaranteed killers, so make sure you grab your copies straight away.”

Rising from the ashes of legendary drum and bass outfit Bad Company who paved the way for the likes of Pendulum, comes an exciting new project masterminded by Maldini and Michael Vegas joined by US-born Swiss producer Uman (previously on DsCi4 and Viper). Following the release of tracks on their own Bad Taste imprint compilations, they showed their melodic side on a recent single for Hospital Records (‘Full Circle/Skyline’), before unveiling their true colours for their proper debut single.

And what a debut: with a razor-edged riff slashing throughout series of disco loops, ‘Last Days Of Disco’ has been annihilating dancefloors for the last few months in the hands of Andy C, Hype and all main players, and the subject of plenty of enthusiastic posts online.
