Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev welcomes Greek Prime minister Alexis Tsipras to Skopje on his first visit after resolving a 27-year row over North Macedonia’s name. Protesters are out in force on the streets of Athens to demonstrate against the country’s name change deal with Macedonia. Macedonian lawmakers last week approved a constitutional revision to rename their country the Republic of North Macedonia, but the agreement will only come into effect with the backing of the Greek parliament. Macedonia/Greek name deal signed as protesters clash with police

“We have made history today” says Macedonian diplomat Nikola Dimitrov in an exclusive interview with AFP, referring to the signing of the accord between Greece and the newly-named Republic of North Macedonia. EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini hailed the deal, while Greek opposition supporters clashed with riot police near the signature ceremony.

Greek Police Round Up Migrants on Macedonian Border: VICE News Quick Hit

Greek police on Tuesday rounded up dozens of Afghan and Iranian migrants and refugees near the country’s northern border and put them on buses bound for the capital Athens. Macedonia has tightened border controls, refusing entry to Afghans and making it more difficult for Iraqis and Syrians to reach Western Europe without the appropriate documentation.
