Kung – ‘NTSC’

KUNG
‘Lifelike / NTSC’
ProgRAM
Out 14th September 2018

Since his first major release in 2009, Granada-born drum & bass producer KUNG – otherwise known as JuanJo Diaz – has risen rapidly amongst the ranks. The artist’s brand new single further showcases his undeniable talents, which have attracted the attention of some of the scene’s greats, including Noisia and DJ Hype.

This single offers up a fresher take on KUNG’s characteristic sound, and is being peddled by RAM Records’ revolutionary sister label, Program. And exploring the furthest corners of the drum & bass world, Program aims to showcase the work of some of the genre’s most talented newcomers, which is why Kung falls so perfectly within their roster.

The new tracks – ‘Lifelike’ and ‘NTSC’ – are both punctuated by dreamlike, distorted vocals: each track boasts emotive groundwork which quickly descends into a clean and distinctive deep-bass flows. ‘Lifelike’s’ intricate layering of sharp, penetrating sounds grows ever more complex, eventually giving way to a full-bodied, high-energy bassline; meanwhile ‘NTSC’s’ more moody, resonant tones are lifted by the gentler instrumentals that dominate the top of the record.

Once again, it’s time to get with the Program – immersing yourself in the superb sounds of KUNG.

__________

The world’s seminal drum & bass festival is nearly upon us and in celebration the twenty five year strong Ram Records label are about to drop yet another compilation EP to announce their 2018 stage takeover. The track listing is as weighty as the artists they’ll be bringing along to Let it Roll this year; packed with seven new exclusives, from a range of producers both within the Ram roster as well as guests who’ve delivered a range of heaters throughout the imprint’s back catalogue, it’s sure to set the motions in place for the Let it Roll countdown.

Whether it’s the indisputably emotive formula of Sound in Noise’s offering ‘The Prophet’, or Audio’s rework of his collaboration ‘Creatures’ with MC Nuklear and Prolix, there’s a range of production styles which epitomise how diverse Ram has come to be over two decades. Freek’s ‘Human Being’ channels the artist’s tell-tale, bouncy signature whilst newcomer Kung crashes forward with the thumping bass peddles and rowdy drum sequences of ‘Eunoia’. Legion & Logam make a welcome comeback with ‘Mullholland Drive’ alongside Hamilton’s ‘Hopelessly Addicted VIP’, whilst Rene LaVice follows up his recent album ‘Far From Perfect’ with the crunching snares of ‘Poke the Bear’ with Lynx, and Subview’s record ‘Take Me Back’ rolls through with its liquid underpinning and sudden descendent into crashing breaks.

It’s an all-encompassing look at what Ram has to give this year at Let it Roll. As usual, it’s looking to be another monumental year for the world’s global gathering of drum & bass fans. Ram’s taster of what’s to come is just the beginning.

Impak – Medula

Impak might not be EVERYONE’s favourite Spanish neuro producer (cause after all, he is out-experienced by the almighty KUNG) but he is probably guaranteed to be a few people’s, without a doubt about it. Impak has turned into one of those fast-paced and super consistent producers that has a new EP out on a different (but massive) label what seems like every couple of weeks – and it is always something HUGE. “Medula” is from the very middle of Impak’s journey as of so far – on the Neurofunkgrid free EP that was heard worldwide called “The Hum” from 2014. Go grab this one at no cost!

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will probably be daily, or possibly even more frequently. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

KUNG & L 33 – Truancy

UK based KUNG and L 33 of Bulgaria come together to make quite an intelligent producing duo, and “Truancy” is proof of that statement. Gotta love the super juicy snare in this one, as well as the awesome Quake vocals later on in the tune. Catch “Truancy” on “The Decade” compilation LP (2015) presented by Vandal.

The artwork for this upload is a vectorized version of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive weapon skin “Hyper Beast” – thanks a lot to Reddit user /u/ElMaestruli11!

KUNG – Brainsmoke

Spanish audio genius KUNG is on the menu today, with a pretty old tune on Citrus. I was jamming to this track this morning with my coffee and I never really realized just how good it is until today. Definitely had to upload this one just because of how much I am feeling it today. From “Brainsmoke / Madfunk” (2012).

KUNG – Consequences

Now-a-days, KUNG is finding himself having releases on some of the biggest labels in the Neurofunk scene (Eatbrain, Rise Audio, etc.), but before his rise to fame; he lived out his ever growing technical genius into underrated monster tracks like “Consequences”. This one is from the 2010 single “Consequences / Venus” on Suspect Device.

KUNG & Aeph – Wozthys [Eatbrain]

Get it on Beatport ► http://www.beatport.com/release/devils-finger-ep/1399539

KUNG leads off with the dancefloor-killer ‘Wozthys’ – a high energy collaboration featuring studio-mate and Lifted Music big gun Aeph. Sophisticated harmonies and pleasing aural textures collide with warped elastic bass in ‘Wozthys’, twisting and turning listeners into submission. It’s one of those tracks that keeps you on your toes – rhythmic switch-ups and unexpected melodic variations are abound, constantly exploring new territory.
