Meet RPK-16: Kalashnikov releases updated version of RPK-74 Soviet light machine gun

Arms manufacturer Kalashnikov has released an updated version of the RPK-74 Soviet light machine gun, the RPK-16. The updated design boasts an interchangeable barrel for close quarter and long-range combat. The 4-kilogram, 5.45-calibre weapon has a rate of fire of 700 rounds per minute. It is expected to be adopted by the Russian armed forces sometime this year.

Kalashnikov branches out from rifles to e-cars

Russian arms maker Kalashnikov is branching out from rifles to produce an electric car inspired by a rare 1970s Soviet model. The brand, best known for the AK-47 machine gun, presented the decidedly retro-looking pale blue prototype, the CV-1, at a defence expo outside Moscow.

Troops In Flying Cars? Kalashnikov unveils futuristic manned ‘copter’

The Russian Kalashnikov arms manufacturer has brought the future a step closer after testing a working prototype of a manned ‘flying car.’ A video released by the company shows the machine being piloted by a person using only a joystick.
The video released on Monday shows a vehicle resembling a passenger helicopter. Whether the device will enter the ranks of the Russian military or be used for civilian purposes – or both – remains a mystery so far.
