Hundreds of Syrian families who had fled the fighting in Aleppo province and found refuge in a reception center in Jibrin, secured by Russian forces about ten kilometers from Aleppo city in northern Syria, began to return home gradually after the takeover of their towns and villages by the Syrian army.
A train travelled for the first time through Aleppo after a four and a half year disruption caused by the war.
The train departed from Jibrin station in the east of the Syrian capital, and was bound to the city’s central Baghdad station. Even if this service in particular has been resumed, other services between Aleppo and both Syrian and foreign cities remain suspended because of the conflict.
