Stephen Hawking’s ashes are interred beside Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton at Westminster Abbey in London. Family and friends, including actor Benedict Cumberbatch, attended to say a last farewell to the British astrophysics giant.

Stephen Hawking has taken his place among Britain’s greatest scientists with the burial of his ashes in Westminster Abbey, between the graves of Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton. Speakers at the ceremony included Benedict Cumberbatch and Hawking’s daughter, Lucy. (June 15)
