Hundreds of Pakistani school students took to the streets of Karachi on Wednesday, to voice their opposition to India’s decision to strip the Indian-administered part of Kashmir of its autonomous status; and demand an end to Kashmir’s lockdown.
Students marched through the streets, carrying banners, and waving Azad Kashmir flags. One of their banners read, “we stand with Kashmir.” Some of the children brandished toy guns.
Indian-administered Kashmir has been on lockdown since August 5 when the Indian government stripped the region of its partially autonomous status, imposed a curfew and shut down all communications. The move angered Pakistan which responded by cutting off diplomatic and economic ties with India.
