Poor living conditions is forcing around 95 families to live cramped together at an abandoned prison for the time being. Since December, the violence in northwestern Syria has sent more than 948,000 people fleeing their homes, according to the UN. More than 470 civilians have been killed, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor of the war.
