Rhode Island Governor declares state of emergency

(22 Jan 2019) Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo declared a state of emergency for Newport County, because natural gas problem forced a utility to shut down service and leave roughly 7,100 homes and businesses with no heat during extremely frigid weather. (Jan. 22)

Rhode Island Gov. beats challenger, wins primary

(13 Sep 2018) Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo won the Democratic nomination for a second term, fending off a challenge from the left by former Secretary of State Matt Brown. Raimondo will face Republican Cranston Mayor Allan Fung in the general election. (Sept. 13)
