‘French Spiderman’ scales Frankfurt skyscraper | AFP

Alain Robert, dubbed the French “Spiderman” for his exploits in climbing buildings around the world, was arrested in the German city of Frankfurt after scaling the “Skyper” tower.

The 57-year-old adventurer, who specialises in unsanctioned ascents of tall buildings, shimmied up the 68-storey Cheung Kong Center in Hong Kong’s main business district in hot and humid conditions on Friday morning.

‘French Spiderman’: Urban climber scales Paris skyscraper without harnesses

Urban climber Alain Robert, better known as the ‘French Spiderman’, scaled an 185 metre (600 foot) high skyscraper in the business district of La Defense, outside Paris. It took him 55 minutes to climb the outside of the Engie skyscraper.

Robert’s other notable climbs include the Empire State Building in New York, the Taipei 101 in Taiwan and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. He set a Guinness World Record in 2012 for climbing the 300 metre Aspire Tower in the Qatari capital Doha, in just 1 hour, 33 minutes and 47 seconds.
