Eastcolors – ‘Toys’ VIP

PROGRAM 100: SAMPLER
PRGRAM100

____

The 100th part of Program’s discography is about to drop and with it you’re reminded of a huge part of the imprint’s history, spanning across a colossal number of releases and representing an important section of the drum & bass underground. Split into three parts, Program 100 will realign you with the sounds which gained the international attention which Ram’s sister label now enjoys, having broken away from its counterpart whilst creating its own place within the dance music market. For its first package, you’re given remixes, exclusives and VIPs as part of the Sampler. And these include tracks which have been heralded as this year’s most sought after dubs, by the likes of trend setting players such as UKF and Red Bull.

Marking the first part of its track listing, the growling Skantia rework of LoKo’s ‘Bassline Secret’ will be a welcome introduction for many drum & bass listeners. Ram Records stalwarts Calyx & Teebee then have their take on Legion & Logam’s ‘House of Cards’, before Eastcolors’ ‘Toys’ gets the VIP treatment. Fascad makes his Program debut with ‘Bull’ and Eazy’s ‘Lushen’ oozes with the technical Program vibe. Rounding off the sampler is Glitch City & Night Shift’s ‘Spider’s Web’ and they make their first appearance on Program yet fit perfectly within its ranks, delivering a murkier undertow from their usual offerings. In just six tracks, the label’s team have painstakingly selected music which defines its journey, from its beginnings to now. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program, although this time its for its most expansive sequence to date.

EastColors – Mad Day (Ed:It Remix)

Released 9th March.

ED:IT is a producer that needs very little introduction. His sound has graced many a label over the past 3 years, including Critical Music, SGN:LTD, C.I.A and Hospital Records to name just a few. Now he fires onto Addictive Behaviour in 2015 with his proud first release of the new year. Consisting of a huge 3 track EP – including – A remix of Eastcolors – ‘Mad Day’, ‘Into The Light’ a collaboration with J Daure and finishing off with one of his own scintillating compositions ‘Valhalla’.

Opening with a sprawling, rich, atmospheric soundscape that although maintains the identity of the original takes it deeper and warmer. The tweaked sounds of the original combining with the new, whilst flickering high hats sit before the haunting and hanging vocal that dissolves away into the drop. An example of how to deliver clean but yet gritty drum programming reminiscent of classic MetalHeadz. Altered, enhanced and superbly re-licked for 2015

EastColors – Could Be

Digital: http://bit.ly/DMND025-Beatport
Vinyl: http://bit.ly/DMND025-DemandStore

Russia’s Eastcolors is back on Demand Records for DNMD025. The producer has been locked away for the past 18 months, working on his debut album, and now returns with three spectacular tunes which prove once again how much of a hot ticket he is throughout the world. East’s career stretches back to 2010, and since hisearly releases on Mainframe has gone on to impress producers and fans across the globe, working with Enei, Break and many others, and is now at the forefront of the St Petersburg scene.

Always fresh, always innovative, his album is set to be one of the big releases of 2015. Ahead of that, Could Be bounds and bounces out of the gate, building from its electronic foundations into a tripped-out, dream-like state. Relentlessly futuristic, this one drips and coalesces into life, resounding around a harsh, sliding bassline. Eastcolors is at his best, no could be about it.

EastColors – Things Inside (Hybris Remix) [Demand Records]

WORLDWIDE RELEASE: 19 th Jan 2015

Digital: http://bit.ly/DMND025-Beatport
Vinyl: http://bit.ly/DMND025-DemandStore

1. Eastcolors – Could Be
2. Eastcolors – Things Inside (Hybris Remix)
3. Eastcolors – Dreams (with Traffic & Noel)

Russia’s Eastcolors is back on Demand Records for DNMD025. The producer has been locked away for the past 18 months, working on his debut album, and now returns with three spectacular tunes which prove once again how much of a hot ticket he is throughout the world.

Things Inside appears in a remixed form, courtesy of Hybris. The original found favour with none other than Friction, and the reimagined version is equally as effective, stuttering slowly into life, before blooming out into an addictive rumbler, with low-slung tribal beats and insistent bass work. The pace constantly varies, with new ideas coming out at you all the time. Boundaries are nothing for Eastcolors, all he cares about is the groove. Dramatic, involving, and essential.

Enei & Eastcolors – 2012 (Mefjus Remix) [#Critmas]

Donate to Download: http://bit.ly/CRITMAS_LP

A charity fundraising album project curated by Foreign Concept & the team at Critical, featuring tracks donated by Mefjus, Emperor, Foreign Concept, Kasra, Krakota, Enei, Eastcolors, Hyroglifics and Halogenix.

In Christmas of 2013 Foreign Concept, Stray and Xtrah got their heads together and decided that rather than let some sought after unreleased music sit idle on their hard drives they would put it to use and offer people the chance to download the tracks whilst raising money for charity.

This year Foreign Concept has gone one step further and we at Critical have all gone through the vaults and put an album together, again for a good cause. This time we have chosen Oxfam. Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods, to campaigning for change that lasts.

Listen to the full Charity album here: https://soundcloud.com/critical-music/sets/do-they-know-its-critmas-v-a

All monies go directly to the charity.
Please give generously and enjoy the music!

Merry Christmas from all at Critical Music.

This time we have chosen Oxfam. Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods, to campaigning for change that lasts.

All monies go directly to the charity.  Please give generously and enjoy the music! Merry Christmas from all at Critical Music

This compilation is a celebration of the conquests which have been achieved over the past two decades. Alongside its releases, the label has been able to stand out against a tide of baying competition through its ever-growing team of bass brothers. Since its inception, these artists have set the agenda across dnb with every sonic cut, from AUDIO’s ‘Stampede’ to Loadstar’s masterpiece ‘Stepped Outside’. These signings have proved impenetrable; having left splintered speakers, damaged shoes and a slaughtered competition in their wake.

Programmed V 3.0 MiniMix – Mixed by Slang Banger

The brooding younger sister of RAM Records, Program has the ability to hold onto the appeal of its signature sound, but adds a much deeper, darker dimension.
And it’s this aptitude which has enabled them to keep adding to an already impressive discography since its inception. Next up, the imprint is about to release another milestone in their Programmed series, featuring some of the most ominous sounds the label has to offer.
Just recently debuting on Program, Slang Banger opens the EP with a track that stays true to its name and ricochets throughout. Aggressive, stomping and baring its teeth, ‘Ripslinger’ throws you against waves of reverberating sound, carefully crafted by peddled basslines and fluctuating note patterns. Slang Banger have already set themselves up with a fierce reputation and this opener epitomises their intimidating workmanship.
In tightly followed fashion is Eastcolors ‘Murderer’, taken by Audio and Meth and given an imposing alter ego. Slowly building with a flicker of sound pulling through its murky waters, each layer adds more intimidating detail, until it meets a crescendo that buckles under the producers’ beat matching. A pandora’s box of LFO-based anarchy weaves itself around the original’s skeleton and it’s not hard to see why this remix was showcased on such a weighty release.
Noel also makes an appearance, a producer who’s recently been pushed into the genre’s spotlight after featuring on the RAM Life compilation. He’s renowned for his mean and progressive rollers that pack a hefty punch. ‘Defence’ is no different; darkly ethereal yet broken up by a bassline that makes your nerves quiver, prepare to be overtaken by a stunning musicality and foreboding undertones.
Wrapping up this sonic assault is Kelle’s Extortion. Audibly skipping past each bar, with a snap, crack and slap against each drum beat, you’ll find yourself pulled in by the track’s vast complexity. Bouncing forward with key taps nestled amongst quaking subs, the distortion which follows creates an organised-chaos.
So once again, it’s time to get with the Program and pace yourself through four rounds of barbed, technical DNB. And it’s the type which has ensured Progam stands as a leading contributor within the underground scene.

Programmed V 3.0
3.1: Slang Banger – Ripslinger
3.2: Eastcolors – Murderer (Audio & Meth Remix)
3.3: Noel – Defence
3.4: Kelle – Extortion
