US, Russia blame each other for near miss at sea

The U.S. and Russian militaries accused each other of unsafe actions on Friday after an American guided-missile cruiser and a Russian destroyer came within 165 feet (50 meters) of each other in the East China Sea. (June 7)

Chinese state media say oil from a sunken Iranian tanker is burning in the East China Sea. Iranian state TV says the Sanchi sank on Sunday. It collided with a freighter on January 6th. 3 bodies from the tanker’s 30-member crew were recovered. (Jan. 15)

The South Korean coast guard says thick smoke is still billowing from a burning Iranian oil tanker in the East China Sea. Up to 32 crew members from the Iranian tanker are missing after the ship and a freighter collided late Saturday. (Jan. 8)

Chinese fleets conduct real combat drill on East China Sea

This drill was the first large exercise using real missiles and torpedoes organized on the East China Sea after the discussion on PLA’s combat training.
