Championed by Annie Mac, Chase & Status, MistaJam, Sigma, and many more, DC Breaks are the next drum & bass duo tipped for huge crossover success. Released on RAM Records, ‘Breathe’ (feat. Dave Gibson) is the pair’s forthcoming single. Currently tearing up dancefloors via major club support from Andy C, High Contrast, Teebee, Danny Byrd, and Matrix & Future Bound, ‘Breathe’ will be released in December ahead of their new artist album due in 2016.

All the signs of DC Breaks impending breakthrough are there: a series of huge club singles (‘Faithless’, ‘If This Is Love’), sold out shows across the UK and Europe, with headline festival slots including Glastonbury’s Arcadia stage, an overflowing, packed out tent at Bestival alongside Hudson Mohawke, plus mainstage performances at EXIT, Melt!, Dour, SW4 and Tomorrowland.

DC Breaks’ remixes for the likes of Lana Del Rey, Tinie Tempah, Seinabo Sey, Lady Gaga, and Paloma Faith, have kept their (sought after) production hands in the mainstream, the flipside to having numerous Beatport genre No.1s and over 40 underground cuts to their name.

DC Breaks aka Dan Havers and Chris Page met and raved together at Edinburgh University, bonding over the Prodigy and the warm glow of a post-jungle era that had breathed new life into UK electronic music. After graduating and finding success North of the border, their first studio was housed in the basement of a Bristol city centre warehouse, a desolate location that doubled up as their home, initially without electricity or running water.

This dedication paid off and success started to show, with cuts such as the tough sci-fi sounds of ‘Halo’, ‘Romper’ and ‘Taken’ on Futurebound’s Viper imprint and the RAM sub-label Frequency. Once they graduated to RAM itself, with cuts such as ‘Shaman’ and last year’s battering ‘Lock-In’, they hit the drum & bass A-league. Before long it wasn’t just the drum & bass scene paying attention. DC Breaks tunes made it onto BBC Radio via Zane Lowe, Mistajam and Annie Mac.

Building momentum at a dizzying speed, DC Breaks’ debut LP is beginning to seep into every corner of music’s landscape. After welcoming 2015 with resounding first single ‘Faithless’, premiered by Radio1’s dance champion Annie Mac, they reiterated to the underground that they were back after finely tuning their creative prowess and opening up to an even more diverse spectrum of sound.

Presenting a multi-dimensional approach to music-making, summer anthem ‘If this is Love’ demonstrates DC Breaks’ widespread appeal. Keeping the hard-lined dynamics which made them so digestible to a drum & bass fan base, whilst creating dancefloor cross-over tracks like ‘Faithless’, this next record is the perfect follow up to solidify their title as production heavyweights.

Incorporating live percussion whilst pedestalling that driving bassline that makes DC Breaks so destructive in clubs across the globe, the guitar stroked follow up is both beautifully composed but doesn’t lack the flare which makes them so recognisable. It’s the perfect starter to the year’s fairer season; a track to dominate the sunlit airwaves as well as sets at festivals worldwide. Also having just delivered a monumental remix on both RAM Records and dancefloor pioneer Spinnin’ Records, Eelke Kleijin’s mistakes was given an up-tempo revamp which has further pushed DC Breaks into the agenda’s fore front.

And on the flipside, DC Breaks take you from the sunny daytime vibes of any festival, straight into the heavier subs of stages soaked in darkness. The VIP for ‘If this is Love’ is punchier and more reminiscent of their darker rollers ‘Swag’ and ‘Lock In’. However, it still utilises the harmonic instrumentals prevalent throughout the original, creating a dancefloor number which is as undeniably catchy as it is ingeniously written. Look no further for a more aggressive revamp with a heavier riff; one likely to see you into the early hours of every tent this summer.

And their most recent announcement, which is a slot at London’s biggest drum & bass event to date, the RAM Records stage at the iconic SW4 festival will see the duo bring their debut album to the decks. On top of headline slots at some of Europe’s biggest festivals, including Dour, with more dates exciting dates soon to be announced, all paths this year lead to DC Breaks.

With an already impressive discography, containing up-tempo revamps of singles from Lady Gaga to Paloma Faith, DC Breaks are back again on remix duties. This time, however it’s for Spinnin’ Records, an electronic music pioneer and one who handpicked the production duo for a drum & bass makeover of Eelke Kleijn’s ‘Mistakes’.

Dan and Chris bring their signature driving bassline to the original, whilst cleverly paying tribute to its nerve-twitching dancefloor appeal. Perfectly blending their craft and creating a 170bpm switch up, it demonstrates why DC Breaks have such a widespread commercial appeal, whilst dominating clubs in the UK’s most notorious corners.

Having smashed the Beatport D&B chart with over 40 releases to date, especially with their most recent vocal roller ‘Faithless’, a debut album is just on the horizon. And first single ‘Faithless’ from the forthcoming LP has already secured support from across the radio airwaves, with tastemakers Annie Mac, Target, Annie Nightingale, Eddy TM, Wideboys and Charlie Tee all getting behind their most recent output.

Although, what else could you expect from a team championed by revered label head Andy C? ‘Faithless’ became an integral part of his sets worldwide; from the packed out stages of Miami’s Ultra, to the sold out shows at Brixton’s 02 Academy. ‘Faithless’ has already showed the causing bass-induced chaos it’s caused in the scene’s hottest spots.

But this is only the beginning. With headline slots across some of the biggest European festivals, including Dour, SW4 (with even more to be announced), this is all shaping up to be a highly illustrious year for DC Breaks.
