Moscow born artist Impish has used his influences of funk, rock and heavy metal to produce music which saw him signed to the Program imprint, the sister-label of esteemed Ram Records. An avid vinyl collector, he’s channelled his love for electronic music into his work and this was first noticed by Program through the singing of double-sided single ‘Burning / Leave Me’. With support from DJ Marky, DJ Hype, Spectrasoul and Technimatic, he’s now capitalised on this success for another forthcoming single on Program, which comes in the form of ‘Take Back’ and ‘Lazy Sundayz’.

‘Take Back’ is given its hook through singing female vocals and a bass melody lead, whilst ‘Lazy Sundayz’ features Shawn Sanderson and Squarewave for a summertime heavy hitter. They’re two more feel-good tracks from Impish, proving that once again it’s time to get with the Program, now taking you through the warmer seasons.

Few acts showcase drum & bass’s exciting creative scope with the same skillish vibrancy as June Miller.

Since signing to Ram Records a year ago, the Dutch/Anglo duo have locked themselves away in their Utrecht HQ working on a series of mindblowing creations. Deep in sonic solitude, they’ve pushed themselves to whole new levels… As proved by the stunning ‘Empathy’ and ‘Operation Ivy’. Both pivotal tracks on Andy C’s explosively extensive ‘Nightlife 6’ opus, these cuts represent June Miller’s chiselled production skills like never before.

We kick off with ‘Empathy’. Igniting with a surging sense of soul, the unity of timeless synths and spellbinding vocals set a smouldering scene that’s suddenly shattered into gnarled fragments when the drop lands. An overwhelming bass riff scuffs across the blistering breakbeats to create a thunderous groove. Instant riot material, this has been tried and tested by Andy C since the summer, each airing causing unparalleled commotion in its wake.

‘Operation Ivy’ complements the carnage perfectly. A jittering, snake-like roller with deep funk coded into every element, everything about this pristine precision piece is designed to get the floor wriggling. From the crisp digi slap bass to the strident, spacious drum dynamics and textured rhythmic stabs, this is an impeccable example of how measured and meticulous drum & bass production standards are when they’re in the right hands.

Two outstanding cuts from one of the scene’s most forward-thinking, accomplished acts, two representations of how far-reaching and creative drum & bass can be: June Miller have an incredible year ahead of them. And it starts right here.

Kung – ‘NTSC’

KUNG
‘Lifelike / NTSC’
ProgRAM
Out 14th September 2018

Since his first major release in 2009, Granada-born drum & bass producer KUNG – otherwise known as JuanJo Diaz – has risen rapidly amongst the ranks. The artist’s brand new single further showcases his undeniable talents, which have attracted the attention of some of the scene’s greats, including Noisia and DJ Hype.

This single offers up a fresher take on KUNG’s characteristic sound, and is being peddled by RAM Records’ revolutionary sister label, Program. And exploring the furthest corners of the drum & bass world, Program aims to showcase the work of some of the genre’s most talented newcomers, which is why Kung falls so perfectly within their roster.

The new tracks – ‘Lifelike’ and ‘NTSC’ – are both punctuated by dreamlike, distorted vocals: each track boasts emotive groundwork which quickly descends into a clean and distinctive deep-bass flows. ‘Lifelike’s’ intricate layering of sharp, penetrating sounds grows ever more complex, eventually giving way to a full-bodied, high-energy bassline; meanwhile ‘NTSC’s’ more moody, resonant tones are lifted by the gentler instrumentals that dominate the top of the record.

Once again, it’s time to get with the Program – immersing yourself in the superb sounds of KUNG.

A natural homecoming forone of our favourite artists, Dispatch are proud to present the second album from Zero T; ‘Little Pieces’. Neatly forming over the past year, ‘Little Pieces’ marries all aspects of the Irishman’s diverse, accomplished sound, progressing from the elegant piano foray ‘Fortune Favours’ to amen strewn tech stepper ‘Dying Breed’, filling all the gaps in between.

Collaborations with Beta 2 & Villem are backed by vocal features from DRS, Stamina and Steo; whose lyrics provided the album’s core inspiration on the stunning title track, supported by Friction (on BBC Radio 1) and DJ Hype (Kiss FM).

Following his acclaimed 2015 album ‘Golden Section’, Zero T continues his thematic, visual imagery; the album artwork reflecting the mosaic of his influencesfrom over the years, carefully reconstructed into a cohesive body of work.A true demonstration of his artistry, Zero T encapsulates everything we love about this genrein ‘Little Pieces’.

Netsky by Netsky is out on Hospital Records on CD and Digital on 31 May and 4x Vinyl LP on 7th June 2010.

So here it is, the debut album from drum + basss hotest property. Not since the explosion onto the scene of High Contrast way back in 2001 have we witnessed an artist rise to prominence so quickly.

In under a year Netsky has released massive 12s on some of the biggest labels in Drum+Bass, and has gained support from some of the biggest names in dance music with Annie Mac, Mistajam, DJ Hype and Ashley Beedle all hammering his tunes.

Fresh, euphoric and unique the album delivers the full spectrum of the Netsky sound. Big vocal cuts like Escape featuring Darrison) and Moving With You (featuring Jenna G) provide two instant D+B classics. There are massive instrumentals bangers Iron Heart and Secret Agent contrasted with the haunting deeper moments of Lets Leave Tomorrow and Storm Clouds.

Capturing the imagination of the tens of thousands who attend D+B parties each week, Netsky has nailed the sound of 2010s raver. Clean cut, high quality dancefloor music, perfect for staying up all night to.
