Fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, a staunch defender of Julian Assange, spoke out about the arrest of Wikileaks founder as she stood outside London’s Westminster Magistrates Court, calling it ‘incredibly violent’ and arguing that human rights and free
speech were at stake in the case.
Westwood recounted that Assange had felt his ejection from the embassy was imminent due to US pressure on Ecuador, and that Ecuador was ‘waiting to find an excuse’ to do it.
