Released 6th May.
Ivy Lab’s 20/20 LDN label release their second EP of 2016, a four track love letter to hip hop by rising Copenhagen producer Shield.
“This EP is the definition of what I love about bass driven music: tight percussion, stereo wide basslines and progressive variations to keep the audience amused. Hip hop has been a major influence in all my productions in general and for this release, I really wanted to make four different flavours that captures the atmosphere from the hip hop I love”.
Shield His intuitive relationship with the drums stems from a Masters degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, playing classical percussion. Inspiration comes from a wide selection of electronic artists and classical composition, with all blending together in his productions. While a lot of the sound effects and percussion used in his tracks are recorded in his homestudio, his profession as a percussionist in The Royal Danish Navy Band has sometimes forced him to finish his tracks on the bus while touring Europe.
His breakout track ‘Horror Movie’ caught the attention of Ivy Lab who played it on their Critical Sound show on Rinse FM. The track was also supported by Noisia on their weekly podcast also making their Favourites Of 2015 tracklist.
With support including Hype, Skeptical and Alix Perez for the innovative 28 year old Scandinavian’s productions, the future is looking bright as he continues to develop his own sound across hip hop and drum & bass.
