Total Science’s infamous CIA Records label turns 20 this year! To celebrate this pretty bloody momentous occasion, the guys have decided to release an album featuring tracks from some of their favourite artists and friends of the label – and as everybody loves them because they’re so sick, the album is sick too!

The LP will come on double vinyl containing 8 tracks, with a further 7 tracks digitally making up a nice big package. On the vinyl there’s a dancefloor-hurting contribution from Break with his beast of a roller ‘Unification’, Calibre returns once again with some dubwise styles in the form of ‘The Trot’, and S.P.Y also makes a welcome return to the label with his upfront system-testing piece ‘Be Strong’. If this wasn’t enough to make for a killer LP, Total Science team up with Digital & Spirit, and FD, Mako, Chroma and Villem, McLeod & Hydro all give their own typically flavourful input to the project.

In addition to this, there are also several digital tracks as part of their big package. Zero T & MC Conrad provide a great dancefloor friendly VIP of their track ‘Morning Sex’ and Spirit brings the techno vibes with his track ‘Riser’. And with the project wrapped up with further excellent contributions from Ed:It and Murdock, alongside label regulars Nymfo, Quadrant & Iris and The Invaderz, it seems just the right way to say Happy 20th Birthday to Total Science’s CIA Records!

Chroma – Outline

CIA is back once again, this time with a seriously weighty EP contribution
from Newcastle’s finest, Chroma!

Having already supplied the label with two absolute gems in the form of ‘Intermission’ and their ‘Woonga Remix’, we asked them back to come and blow the doors off once again, and they’ve come and done it in style with their ‘Outline EP’. Formed of 3 tracks on vinyl and one digital exclusive, this one looks set to rip the dances apart.

Opening up with the title track ‘Outline’, we’re taken back to the legendary jungle years, with the track based around a break we all know and love. Catchy vocal edits, ear-bending mid basses and banging 808 subs tie it all together to make a track that’ll take the ravers back to that Golden Age.

Jubei – Out of Sight feat. Tyrone

Buy: http://bit.ly/1QARMv2

The return of Jubei to the Metalheadz fold as a recording artist. The success of his debut album ‘To Have & Have Not’ led to an intense touring schedule for Jubei, demand was high from United Kingdom to Japan and everywhere in between. Following this Jubei took some time out from touring and returned to the studio to craft five tracks in his typical streamlined fashion. The tracks act a statement of intent from the producer, no one can quite match what he does and the music proves it.

Lead track Congo is assured and confident, Paragon features new vocalist Rumour- cold soul against a bleak landscape. Further guest appearances come from Tyrone of Chroma and Steo accents the amen led Cold Corner. The EP closes with Haunt, a functional tool for DJ and dancefloors. Listening to the EP in its entirety feels like Jubei never left, it’s a welcome return by one of Metalheadz leading lights.

The waiting is finally over… We’re about to unleash your soundtrack for the next Music week in Miami and it’s packed full of exclusives. With no less than 28 brand new cuts accompanying you onto one of the world’s hottests beaches, prepare for the smooth riding riddims of Ram Records to envelop the US and beyond.

From label stalwarts Delta Heavy, to new signees Teddy Killerz and championed guests Gerra & Stone, there’s a musical taste to suit every palette. Whether it’s from a renowned roster artist or a relative newcomer, this compilation bursting with heaps of exclusives is the only way to launch you headfirst into the innovation drum & bass is renowned for.

Carefully finessing this album, the Ram imprint is about to drum & bass for a transatlantic journey. It’s a showcase of what the genre can offer… electric vibes which pulses through its veins and cherished memories of a tempo which pulls you into the morning’s early hours.

But with the Miami conference pedestalling every major genre which has made electronic music so popular, there would be a void if Ram didn’t step up. And as one of the most withstanding labels from the last two decades, they’ve delivered with immense style. You’re provided with a host of smooth basslines and hotly tantalising vocals to take you from pool-party to clubs at some of the most renowned districts.

Audio is first to deliver, crashing in at full speed and leaving no survivors with the tear out anthem which is ‘Combust’. Then taking you into a web of technicality and meticulous composition is Calyx & Teebee’s ‘Wipe Out’. There are also a huge selection of Vips to firmly solidify why it’s important to revisit tunes which are still to this day so highly sought after; leading the way is Loadstar’s ‘Under Pressure’ Vip, which set a stunning precedent in 2014.

So, now it’s time take the legacy of Hornchurch to Miami and lay down the same roots which are still prevalent throughout the UK today. And adding that to Miami’s reputation, it’s a match which is set to make history.

Total Science feat. S.P.Y – Whoonga (Chroma Remix)

Out March 2nd.

The Classified series on Total Science’s mighty CIA Records drops in heavy with four killer cuts. This first outing in the series sees some of the labels long time stalwarts & one of the finest new blood step up to the plate.

Total Science & SPY’s heavyweight classic ‘Whoonga’ was rinsed by all who had it – and starting off the EP comes a tough remix from Chroma, which is sure to be no different. One of the best classic breaks teamed with a weighty full range bassline form the backbone of this definitely dancefloor friendly track – a surefire number in the club.

Chroma
1: 201 Dub 2: Sovereign

The name Chroma has echoed through the drum and bass community since their output as a collaborative project.
Individually, they’ve already been hosted by a number of pronounced record labels, being met by critical acclamation from across the business. But returning to underground tastemaker Program, Chroma’s next production will resonate in your minds for a while. Their style has ensured longevity, whilst dipping into the futuristic sounds that makes contemporary drum and bass so forward thinking. And trust us, this one is no different.
Rolling out first is ‘201 Dub’ which highlights the trios consistency at putting out heartfelt bass-slabs that can reach an intimidating depth of musicality. Plucky, powerful and precisely laid out, this track leaves a lasting impression for the whole release. Beginning with a skit that lays beneath its structure, you’re instantly aware of the ragga-style vocal that fades between carefully constructed beat patterns. Enticing you further into the mix, its driving pace never fluctuates yet continuously holds the wraithlike vibe which Chroma seem to conjure seamlessly.
A record that quivers with power and with a bassline that reverberates throughout, ‘Sovereign’ continues with the same authority. At times you’re caught unaware by its drifting humanism and the slight nod to the record’s softer elements. This track opens their repertoire like a door, with the insistent kick of drums and skip of sample which weaves between loops of the amen break. Peppered with dynamic riff patterns, commanding your attention, the record is broken up by thoughtful breaks. As a result, they give you time to reflect on the versatility that Chroma is renowned for.
Going beyond the prototype and establishing themselves as a formidable force within the genre, this isn’t the last you’ll hear from the trio.
So once again, it’s time to get with the Program!

Renegade Hardware present — Chroma. Formedback in 2011, the Chroma crew crashed onto the scene right from the start, with essential tracks on Hardware, ProgRam, Commercial Suicide, and their very own Coded label. Subsequent releases have blown speakers and minds in equal measure, and now the Newcastle lads are back with the follow up to their debut Hardware release: Machine which featured on the heavyweight Limber EP.

Brain Strain meanwhile creates its atmosphere early on, with overarching synths establishing themselves, as colliding breaks sit waiting to release. Dubby, echoing bass paths are also thrown into the mix, and the drop is mighty. Dirty and grimey are the orders of the day on Brain Strain, as the producers let their imaginations fly and lead them into new areas. They take you deep down into the grubby underworld of drum & bass, with hints of early Icicle vibes.

Territories lays its stall out early doors, with tight, remorseless drums leading into a dynamic, well-controlled build. The bassline clashes in soon after, and you know you are being set up for something big. That promise is paid off by something huge and unexpected. Chroma bring together everything they’ve become known for, with pulsating beats, eerie background samples and a driving, energetic arrangement. The low-end morphs, the effects come in and out, and you’ll know you’re in enemy Territories. As welcome an addition to the Renegade Hardware canon as you could wish for.
