US: police release footage of Philando Castile fatal shooting

Minnesota police released the dashcam footage taken during the 2016 shooting of black motorist Philando Castile, whose dying moments were captured on Facebook video in a case that shocked the nation. Jeronimo Yanez, 29, was found not guilty of all three charges he faced in the death of 32-year-old Castile: second-degree manslaughter and two felony counts of intentional discharge of a dangerous weapon for endangering the safety of Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her four-year-old daughter. Protesters marched on Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s mansion in the state’s capital St. Paul, demanding justice after a police officer shot 32-year-old African-American Philando Castile dead. Lavish Reynolds, Castile’s girlfriend, recorded the bloody aftermath of the police shooting on her phone, after police pulled the couple over, along with Reynold’s daughter who sat in the backseat, for a broken taillight. Castile’s death comes just one day after the killing of Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old African-American shot dead by two white police officers.
