Free, The cannabis Poet, Cannabis University 2018

Free has been involved with Cannabis activism in Britania for over 20 years. He founded Britain’s first Cannabis museum in 1996, before moving to Glastonbury in 1997 to open what is now Britain’s longest established high street Hemp retailer and information centre ‘Hemp In Avalon’.
Free will be sharing his passion for Cannabis as a source of food, fibre, fuel, medicine and spiritual sacrament. He will be discussing what led to the unlawful prohibition of Cannabis in the early 1900s and the various campaigns he has been involved in to Free Cannabis.
Free is al meer dan 20 jaar betrokken bij cannabisactivisme in Groot Brittannië. Hij richtte in 1996 het eerste Cannabis-museum van Groot-Brittannië op, waarna hij in 1997 verhuisde naar Glastonbury om daar de langst bestaande hennep winkel en informatiecentrum ‘Hemp In Avalon’ te openen op een drukke winkelstraat. Free deelt zijn passie voor cannabis als een bron van voedsel, vezels, brandstof, medicijnen en spiritueel sacrament. Hij zal discussiëren over wat leidde tot het onwettige verbod op cannabis in de vroege jaren 1900 en de verschillende cannabis legalisatie campagnes waar hij bij betrokken was.

Manu Moreau, Stand up comedian, Cannabis University 2018

Stand Up Comedian and board member of Trekt Uw Plant, the first Cannabis Social Club in Belgium. Manu was arrested along with two other TUP board members at a major police strike in May 2017 and then detained for three weeks. At the Cannabis University, he provides a portion of comic relief between the panel debates and master classes.

Stand Up Comedian en bestuurslid van Trekt Uw Plant, de eerste Cannabis Social Club van België. Manu werd samen met twee andere TUP bestuursleden gearresteerd bij een grote politie actie in mei 2017 en zat vervolgens drie weken lang vast. In de Cannabis University zorgt hij voor een portie comic relief tussen de panel debatten en masterclasses door.

Jules Stobbs and Myrtle Clarke
…better known as The Dagga Couple, have been fighting for the legalization of cannabis in South Africa since 2010. Through the courts they hope to enforce the lifting of the ban. In 2017 their long-awaited trial against the state, ‘The Trial of the Plant’, took place, with a leading role for the English professor David Nutt. With their organizations Fields of Green for All and Join the Queue, they stand up for compatriots who are being persecuted for cannabis.
Jules Stobbs en Myrtle Clarke, beter bekend als The Dagga Couple, strijden sinds 2010 voor legalisering van cannabis in Zuid Afrika. Via de rechter hopen ze opheffing van het verbod af te dwingen. In 2017 vond hun langverwachte proces tegen de staat, ‘The Trial of the Plant’, plaats, met een hoofdrol voor de Engelse professor David Nutt. Met hun organisaties Fields of Green for All en Join the Queue komen ze op voor landgenoten die wegens cannabis worden vervolgd.

Dana Larsen (Canada)
Dana is one of Canada’s best known cannabis activists, the country that legalizes recreational cannabis on a national level this summer. He wrote for years for Cannabis Culture, the magazine of Marc Emery, and was co-founder of the Marijuana Party of Canada, the BC Marijuana Party and the Vancouver Seed Bank. Larsen wrote several books about the plant, including ‘Hairy Pothead and the Marijuana Stone’ and ‘The Pot Puzzle Fun Book’ and gave away millions of cannabis seeds for free. He founded the Vancouver Dispensary Society and leads Sensible BC, the largest Canadian grassroots organization for the legalization of cannabis.

Founder of Sensi Seeds, Hempflax, the Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum, Cannabis Culture Awards and sponsor of hundreds of demonstrations, events, action groups, campaigns and organizations in the field of cannabis. Ben Dronkers is a pioneer, a visionary and one successful entrepreneur. His contribution to the international cannabis culture cannot be overstated.

Kenzi Riboulet Zemouli
Kenzi is a French drug policy reform advocate and researcher at FAAAT (Foundation for an Alternative Approach to Addiction and Substance Dependence) who lives in Barcelona, Spain. He is involved in local campaigns in the Occitania (southern France) and Catalonia (northeastern Spain) regions and is a regular at the CND meetings at the United Nations in Vienna and Geneva and the World Health Organization. He focuses primarily on harm reduction issues as they relate to cannabis and on the cannabis social club model as a health-based approach to cannabis policies.
Kenzi is een Franse activist voor hervorming van het drugsbeleid en onderzoeker bij FAAAT (Foundation for an Alternative Approach to Addiction and Substance Dependence). Hij woont in Barcelona en is betrokken bij campagnes in Occitanië (Zuid-Frankrijk) en Catalonië (Noordoost-Spanje). Kenzi is regelmatig op de CND-bijeenkomsten van de VN in Wenen en Genève en de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie. Robert Veverka (Czech Republic)

President of Legalizace.cz, the largest Czech organization for legalization of cannabis and editor in chief of the wonderful Legalizace magazine. In 2013, Robert was a candidate for the Pirate Party in the European Parliament elections.

James Burton (USA)

The story of James Burton reads like a Hollywood script. A Vietnam veteran, who flees the war on drugs to become the main pioneer and first large-scale grower of medicinal cannabis in the Netherlands. After Bedrocan gained a monopoly on producing medical cannabis, Burton’s Stichting Insitute of Medical Marijuana (SIMM) went bankrupt.

Michael Knodt (Germany)

One of Germany’s leading cannabis journalists. Micha was editor in chief of Hanf Journal between 2005 and 2013 and now works for various media. He is the host of Exzessiv.tv and Der Micha.

Sean Carney (USA)

Former Wall Street Journal correspondent in the Czech Republic and currently Director of Business Development EMA at Tilray, one of the biggest players in the international legal cannabis industry.

VICE called Ricardo Baca (USA) “the nation’s most prestigious cannabis editor” and Forbes counts him as “one of the seven most powerful people in cannabis”. In 2013 Baca became the first cannabis editor of The Denver Post, Colorado’s leading newspaper. He developed The Cannabist website and starred in the documentary Rolling Papers, screened in the Cannabis University.
