Release – ‘Mind Fog’

Release
Bog Down / Mind Fog
PRGRAM090

Establishing his musical foundations in Bolton, drum & bass producer Release is set to drop his debut single on Ram Records sister-label Program. ‘Bog Down / Mind Fog’ is an introduction to the style which resulted in Release coming under Program’s radar, with his slick, rumbling bass levels becoming a defining feature and adding to the imprint’s grittier side. Already garnering support from household names such as Friction, Calibre and Doc Scott, ‘Bog Down’ and ‘Mind Fog’ are due to follow in the same footsteps.

Slapping breaks and weight-driven drum pads carry through ‘Bog Down’, offering a sure-fire sub blower whilst on the reverse, ‘Mind Fog’ continues the assault with weighty kicks and patches of growling LFOs. Once again, it’s time to get with the Program, one given a nastier face by artists like Release.

Nu:Logic – Driftwood (feat. Ed Thomas)

Get your copy of Nu:Logic’s new album “Somewhere Between The Light” here: https://NuLogic.lnk.to/SomewhereBetweenTheLightyb

Nu:Logic is a collaborative partnership between Hospital signings Nu:Tone and Logistics. The two brothers, Dan and Matt Gresham, first joined forces under this new alias in the mid noughties, with the first Nu:Logic release “On & On” appearing on Hospital in 2004. The project went on the back burner until 2010 when they released their “New Technique” EP to great critical acclaim.

The pair combine the music that they love – music with soul, atmosphere, tension and groove – together into one melting pot of sound. Whilst growing up they were exposed to the same music, but quickly found their tastes diverging. However now they are older, these have moved closer together again and at the core is a shared love of artists such as DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, MoWax, Full Cycle, Heaz, No U Turn, Jazzanova and Calibre.

With nine individual albums between them and their debut Nu:Logic album “What I’ve Always Waited For” released in 2013 which has been making waves in the D&B scene and beyond, it is now time for their new album “Somewhere Between The Light” which is due out in June this year.

Rho – Tell You (Free Download)

Download ‘Alleviate’ for free: http://bit.ly/SNB018

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Prash Chouhan, 23, otherwise known as Rho, graduated from University last year where he co-founded the UK underground events organisation ‘Overground Sessions’. Starting to produce at the age of 15 and in the last four years of his studies, Rho decided to take things more seriously which tied in with running his night. Not tied down to a specific sort of genre, but geared towards harder and jazzy liquid Drum & Bass, Rho is influenced by artists including S.P.Y, Calibre, Break, Lenzman, and now living in London, has recently put our previous releases on labels such as Soulvent and Saucy records. Watch out for this producer!

Valentyn Artemenko, otherwise known as Pageant, is a producer from Ukraine who is now based in Israel. Drum and bass has been a very important part of his life but just listening was never enough so the only natural progression was to begin making some himself. Using creative influence from producers such as Seba, Calibre, dBridge and fellow countryman Sunchase, he has crafted a sound that is diverse and unique, perfectly fitting the Skankandbass ethos. Both debut tracks show impeccable production and musicality, further showing an already mature sound.

Producer, DJ, remixer, and fundamentally a musician, Portsmouth’s Steve Lynx has had a storied career in drum & bass. His is one of the most recognisable and original sounds in the genre, and his music has graced the likes of Ram, Playaz, Digital Soundboy, Creative Source Hospital & Soul:R.

Now, Lynx is going back in order to go forwards. To celebrate ten years of dedication to the d&b scene, he relaunches his imprint, Detail Recordings. Alibi – Last Call

Buy: http://bit.ly/plv064dd-V_Store
iTunes: http://bit.ly/plv064dd-iTunes

Alibi sees two of the brightest lights from the Brazilian D&B scene, Level 2 and DJ Chap join forces under their new production moniker for their second release on the legendary V Recordings.

Fresh from mixing the critically acclaimed ‘Planet V Drum & Bass Vol 2’ album earlier this year, cementing their selection and mixing credentials, the duo have also just made a guest appearance on Hospital Records ‘Future Sound of Brazil’ project, picking up a legion of new fans along the way. Now the boys return back home to V for The Hornet EP – a beautifully balanced EP showcases the lighter and darker sides of the productions.

Kicking things off with the deep sounds of ‘Last Call’, then onto the DJs favourite ‘Hideaway’ which has been rocking dancefloors the world over. Things then get a little different as we move into the experimental half step rhythms of ‘The Hornet’, expect to see this one crossing genre boundaries! And last but no means least is ‘Fire’ complemented by the vocal talents of singer/songwriter Charli Brix, this lush D&B roller hits all the right notes in its delivery, and what a way to finish off the EP!

For such a new act, Alibi are really starting to make a name for themselves with their precision cut productions, mixing the deep with the dancefloor. Support for the duo has come already from V boss Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, DJ Hype, Calibre, London Elektricity, Break, Fabio & Grooverider, Bailey, Kasra, Ivy Lab, Hazard, and a whole load more. Get to know!

Calibre – Posh Boy

Out September 18th.

After a short break from releasing music’s finest format, Total Science” CIA imprint is back with four tracks from arguably Drum and Bass premier producer. Calibre showcases not only his versatility on the Dream Dubz EP, but also that sound that he’s known and loved for.

‘Another’ conveys his trademark sound albeit with a 2015 twist, whilst ‘Posh Boy’ sounds like it was made in anger, bringing forth a harder edged feel. ‘Dreamz Dub’ is one for the soundsystem crew, deep as you like but with serious weight to it. And rounding up the package is ‘Believe It’, which Calibre does in his truly inimitable style, a sublime roller packed with musicality and depth, everything the man is known and loved for.
