Oroville Dam: Aerial footage of spillway day before erosion discovered

Aerial footage released on Sunday, captures the view of Oroville Lake spillway on Saturday, before the California Department of Water Resources discovered serious erosion in the dam structure that led to officials issuing evacuation orders for the surrounding area. Almost 200,000 people were evacuated from the Butte County, Marysville and Yuba County on local authorities’ orders, after they established that uncontrolled flood waters could be released from Lake Oroville due to a severe erosion of one of the Oroville Dam’s emergency spillways.
