Kings Of The Rollers – Gringo (feat. Navigator)

Buy or Stream ‘Kings Of The Rollers LP’ here: https://KingsOfTheRollers.lnk.to/KOTR-LPyc

Leaders of the new generation and purveyors of dancefloor chaos Serum, Voltage and Bladerunner return to the frontline of drum & bass with their debut, self-titled album ‘Kings Of The Rollers’. Whilst each has their own high-grade production style, these three royals have managed to create a sum greater than their parts, as they steamroll through all the rules to deliver an absolute bruiser of an LP.

Across seventeen tracks expect up-front rollers, techy 2-step beats and pure knockout D+B bangers, complemented with slick jazzy numbers and a wide variety of vocal-lead tracks. It’s safe to say they’ve lived up to the hype with their most dynamic and diverse release to date.

Amongst the carnage highlights include ‘You Got Me’. A towering tear-out beast ladened with thrashing amens and a thundering bassline that’s ready to push every speaker to it’s limits. Low frequency growler ‘Shella’ is peppered with steppy jungle nuances, with Mancunian dance music innovator Chimpo featuring on both production and vocals for an all-round roughneck sheller. ‘Round Here’ is a brazen jungle prowler with Bristolian lyricist Redders at the helm for a future classic anthem.

Whilst being predominantly known for their heavyweight productions and outrageous D+B screamers, the new album also showcases a variety of different flavours. Jungle roller ‘On The Run’ features the smooth spoken word of Queen Rose and ‘Tisno’ brings a warm steppy swing, inspired by their time spent at the very first Hospitality On The Beach.

Hospital’s three kings have set the scene on fire with their electrifying DJ sets and headline festival performances. Their new ‘Royal Rumble‘ tour takes them all over the UK in 2019 with shows in London, Bristol, Brighton, Manchester and beyond.

Nick The Lot – Out Of Your Mind

↪ Download for free – http://bit.ly/SNB046

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

When Brighton based talent Nick The Lot came onto our radar last year with his debut single ‘The Sound Of A Feeling’ on Holographic Audio, its distinctive production style made it difficult to believe it was his first ever release. However he now starts 2019 with a series of releases planned & regular bookings coming in, and we’re excited to put out his first music of the new year, in the form of SNB046 ‘Out Of Your Mind / Subconscious Safari’.

‘Pull yourself together or make way’ Corbyn tells Tories

Britain’s Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn tells the ruling Tories to “pull yourself together or make way,” at the party’s annual conference in Brighton. Corbyn has met with significant resistence from Labour MPs over his attempts to move the party to the left since being elected leader in September 2015. But he defied expectations by winning 30 more seats in June on a manifesto promising nationalisations and a huge increase in public spending. SOUNDBITE

Mean Teeth – Gutterfunk (ft. Kerizma)

Buy ‘Gutterfunk’ – *buy link coming*

Lifestyle Music returns with a two-part single, this time representing the sounds of Mean Teeth featuring collaborations with Kerizma MC and Skylark. The Mean Teeth duo reigning from Estonia and Lithuania are a name making serious waves in the Drum & Bass scene, seeing recent releases on Renegade Hardware and Bad Taste to name a few. For this release they’ve teamed up with British Kerizma MC for Gutterfunk, and young French production prodigy Skylark for Hydra.

The first track up ‘Gutterfunk’ backed up by the host from the UK’s South Coast ‘Kerizma MC’, sets the tone for the start of the single. Brighton’s own brings the fire on the vocals, whilst the collab smashes the airwaves with deep burly bass and hard-hitting drums; these guys really are firing a weapon. The break then takes you to another dimension, all while maintaining the dark vibe of this masterpiece, before taking you for another ride – lock, stock and two smoking barrels.

Trip to Brighton with Ownglow!

We thought we’d take time out of London and have a catch up with Ownglow down in Brighton. Take a look at what we got up too!

Ownglow’s “Inside The Silence EP” is out now! Get it at https://Ownglow.lnk.to/InsideTheSilenceyb

Following his debut solo release on the esteemed Hospital Records is Ownglow’s equally impressive and progressive ‘Inside The Silence’ EP. Four tracks deliver a personal portrayal of his transatlantic living with collaborations from recent riser Mitekiss, Oxfordshire’s electro duo Disco’s Over and vocalists Elle Vee and Courtney Odom.

‘Breathe’ matches up the methods of multi-genre movers Disco’s Over and the warm, natural vocals of Elle Vee, who brings a romantic essence with her pitch-perfect topline. A second collaborative effort with the illusive Mitekiss makes a trail down to deeper D+B levels in ‘Take Me’.

Ownglow’s hometown of Arizona is clearly a pool of talent with resident Courtney Odom bringing sultry vocals to the jazzy waves of ‘Mercy’. Finally, ‘Glo Mello Flo’ pairs playful hip-hop influences with a D+B tempo for a soulful summer soother.

Dive even further into the mind of 20-year old Ownglow with his self-created artwork. An old photograph with a modern twist ties to the EP’s ethos of different perspectives and ideas coming together in a minimalist nature.

“Why if there is love, there are no words, inside the silence,” – that quote has stuck with me and I think it’s a fitting description for what this EP is – there would be no music without silence, and inside of that silence is something yearning to be heard.” – Ownglow
