Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Records we release a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

After a series of International releases we return to the UK with SNB056, coming to us from Bournemouth based talent Operate. He came onto our radar last year after featuring on SNB044 with Klinical, as their collab ‘Requiem’ went on to become one of our most successful tracks. His well developed sound design is testament to years of honing his craft and collaborating with some of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming talents like Skantia, Subsonic & Klinical; and now he graces Skankandbass Records with his most accomplished release to date, ‘By Chance / Chambers’.

Krakota x Urbandawn – Epigram

Buy/stream here: https://HospitalRecords.lnk.to/FocusShiftEPyb

Two of Hospital Record’s most electrifying artists have formed an allegiance for a true coming together of titans. Bournemouth’s Krakota and Sao Paulo’s Urbandawn have combined their production talents to create the five-track ‘Focus Shift’ EP – a real drum & bass mash up of styles and sonic sequences.

The aptly named ‘Coyote’ is an absolute howler, unashamedly powerful and loaded with energy, distorting and plunging itself into new streams of audio chaos throughout.

‘Laguna’ fits with their alter-egos – sweet, pensive and majestic. Operating within a more classic Hospital framework, this rolling stroke of musical bliss will leave no party unsatisfied.

Sitting in the middle of this concerted creation is title track ‘Focus Shift’. Informed by both liquid-funk and tech styles, it’s gelled together with scathing bass riffs and high profile percussive chops.

‘Epigram’ has all the bassweight you’d expect from such a monolith collision of production powerhouses. Crisp and sinful, with a consistently militant atmosphere this song is pure depth, darkness and danger; with a genuinely intriguing sonic progression that renders this track as devastating as weapons grade plutonium.

Seeing the release home is ‘Paladin’. An ardent dancefloor destroyer that fuses the power of the stepper with the groove of a roller, that even angels would find themselves bustin’ a skank. Uplifting and powerful with cosmic subtleties in the low end twinned with sombre melodies and skittering drum-work all tempered in unison to create a certified banger.

Rizzle – The Only One

Follow Skankandbass on Spotify and listen to its playlists: http://bit.ly/SNBSpotify

Released 2nd June 2016.

The next Dispatch LTD instalment heads to the South Coast as we welcome Bournemouth resident Rizzle to the label for his debut release, the ‘Ascension EP’. Intricate, crisp drums are offset by deep, melodic chords throughout the release, as Rizzle brings a sophisticated warmness to the fold.

With techno inspired progression and smooth pads contrastingthe fast pace, hismusic strikes a nerve in opposing settings; chilled, easy listening at home on the one hand, but harboring a dark, subtle groove that causes damage on a club system. Rizzle raises the bar with his Ascension EP, teasing between alternating vibes across four rolling tracks, that each leave a soulful glow in their trail.

Krakota – Irregular [Full Version]

Pre-Order:
Hospital Shop: http://hospi.tl/xylo
iTunes: http://hospi.tl/14xylo
Google Play: http://hospi.tl/15xylo

Debut release from Hospital’s latest signing Krakota sees the Bournemouth based youngster flex his musical muscles with two contrasting tracks of quality nu-school d+b magic.

Instantly recognisable thanks to it’s infectious percussive riff (the clue’s in the title), Xylo is a syncopated stepper which drops hard thanks to a rugged rumbling off beat sub.

Irregular switches the story with staccato synth work and angry angular beats.

With early releases on Critical, Ingredients, Subtitles and the mighty Playaz label, not to mention two tracks on Hospitals epic ‘We Are 18’ compilation at the start of this year, Krakota can count Friction, Fabio and Crissy Criss as fans.

Ingested into Hospital’s sonic hit squad earlier this year, alongside the likes of Reso and Lynx, Krakota becomes the latest signing to the label to unveil his first solo 12”, as Hospitals ‘Class of 2014’ steps up the game and look to follow the likes of Fred V & Grafix, Metrik and Etherwood with huge debut releases.
