Segment & Concept Vision – Empire

Concept Vision & Segment are a duo from Russia that have been on a speedy come-up in terms of technological progression within the past few years. These are two producers who clearly have a natural knack for world-class neurofunk music and they have finally reached the top. You guys are probably still steadily jamming to “classics” of theirs such as the “Unconscious” remix, “Mammoth”, “Charge”, and “Deserted” just to name a few. Well, their discography grows another five tracks wide today with their second Eatbrain EP called “Roar”. Every single tune on this one is, I hate to use this word, fire. We even get a collaborative effort involving Cod3x, a similarly geographically placed powerhouse known for when Bad Company dropped his masterpiece “Undead” at Pirate Station. Anyway, folks this one features some sickening samples from Celldweller and I am not misusing the word “epic” when I describe this track. Have a listen for yourself and see.

https://soundcloud.com/conceptvision

Weapons Grade is a channel for uploading only the most forward thinking and stomping underground neurofunk. I will try my best to promote only the truly under-appreciated tunes that go lesser heard. Uploads will be frequent. Every track featured here has been purchased from the respective label, and is in 320 kbps (MP3) quality before upload. All artwork in every video is from http://www.wallhaven.cc/ unless otherwise stated! I won’t feature any track on this channel that isn’t advanced neurofunk and I will never monetize a video. This channel is purely for your entertainment and discovery, and for my hobby. I hope you guys enjoy thoroughly!

If there is a problem with any of the tracks uploaded, please consult with me by my email (found on my channel under “For business enquiries”). I will take necessary measures to make content owners satisfied with the state of their track, whether it be on the channel or not. If you wish to submit a track for possible upload, please send it to me via the same email.

Release Date: February 29th, 2016

Concussion Records are back with their second release, CNCSN002, on which the Ukrainian master Nickbee drops Another Dimension and Splitting Hairs.

Nickbee is truly a legend in his own time, and an artist and producer who has won acclaim from right across the drum & bass world. Starting out at the early age of 15, releases on Horizons Music, Dispatch Recordings and Close 2 Death earned him the praise of Bad Company, Noisia and Friction amongst many, many more. Now, he is moving on with a new release on Concussion, a label who previously hit you with music from Kantyze and Bowsar in the form of Prelude to Schism and Thanos. Now, make sure you are ready for Another Dimension and Splitting Hairs.

The former shakes its way into life around some stuttering percussion, whilst the background is filled in with some chilling, eerie atmospherics. Nick slowly builds things up in his trademark intense fashion, with chiming keys counterbalancing the morphing, transforming bassline. Next up is the drums, which drop in to form the backbone of the tune. The bass sits forward, going absolutely crazy whilst still being restrained. Talk about a quiet storm, Nick proves once again that he can do it all with Another Dimension. Transport yourself.

Big, no, huge sounds from Concussion Records on CNCSN002. Brain-wrecking.

Mob Tactics – Return of the Snitch [Viper Recordings]

Out now on: Beatport: http://bit.ly/vpr077bp | iTunes: http://smarturl.it/vpr077 | Viper Shop: http://bit.ly/vpr077 | Spotify: http://bit.ly/vpr077spot

Viper Recordings are proud to announce their latest exclusive label signing, Mob Tactics. Luke Budgen & Mark Sims (aka Mob Tactics) seem to be a name on people’s lips more and more of late. Already renowned for their inimitable style of techy – yet very funky, dancefloor orientated Drum & Bass, the duo appear to be going from strength-to-strength with each release. Their tunes are already firm staples in the sets of Andy C, Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, DJ Hype and Audio, to name but a few, and the demand for them on the DJ circuit is rapidly gaining momentum. Heavily influenced by the likes of Ed Rush & Optical, Bad Company, Konflict and Total Science, you can always guarantee a Mob Tactics release or DJ set will be nothing short of high octane.

2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer.

But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track ‘Nil by Mouth’ EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for ‘Heads Up’, it’s now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche.

Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album’s entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released.

But what can you expect from the man who garners such an explosive reputation across the club circuit? Audio brings his live personality into the whole album and accompanying mix; one that doesn’t let you pause for breath. They’re a collection of tracks that’ll leave an atomic bomb sized impression inside the community, which further solidifies his reputation as an ever- growing, unstoppable goliath.

The brand new cut ‘Foodchain’ from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus’ ‘Brainwork’, all the way back to Spor’s heavy-hitting ‘Bullet Time’ remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre’s darker side.

VARIOUS ARTISTS
‘Audio presents RAMlife Drum & Bass’
RAM RECORDS
RELEASED 22nd February

Ed Rush – Boxcar [Piranha Pool]

Ed Rush
‘Scarabs’ / ‘Box Car’
1. Scarabs
2. Box Car

Label: Piranha Pool Recordings *LAUNCH*
Cat #: PPR001
Genre: Drum & Bass
Full Release: 06-10-2014

An artist synonymous with Drum and Bass, Ed Rush has become a byword for cutting edge, forward thinking beats. Moving through the sounds of hip hop and electro in his early musical years, Ed Rush soon became interested in the emerging London jungle scene. Showing his innate ability to manipulate chopped breakbeats and piles of sub-low bass, it wasn’t long before Ed Rush and Nico dropped the huge ‘Bludclot rtattack’. The first classic to Ed Rush’s name, this proved to be a platform for another collaboration with DJ Trace. Simultaneously developing his own style whilst pushing the boundaries of a genre, classics such as ‘The Mutant’ and ‘Guncheck’ put Ed Rush’s attitude injected productions firmly on the map.

One of the pioneers of new sound dubbed Techstep, Ed Rush soon teamed up within another leading light, Optical; to form what would become one of the most progressive production teams in the scene. In 1998, Ed Rush & Optical released an album universally recognized as changing the landscape of Drum and Bass forever with the legendary, ‘Wormhole’ on Virus Recordings. Still regarded as one of the main catalysts for the Neuro and Techstep sound, ‘Wormhole’ paved the way for household names such as Noisia, Bad Company and many more.

Since then Ed Rush has released a plethora of genre-defining tracks and albums, both solo and with his partner in crime, Optical. Still busy at work on a new Ed Rush & Optical LP due in late 2013, Ed Rush is not merely content with helping shape the scene and remaining one of its most consistent producers. Beginning his own venture, he now looks to the future with the birth of Piranha Pool. An outlet for showcasing new talent and veterans alike, Piranha Pool represents what will be the future of Drum and Bass; so it’s fitting that its first release comes from its creator, Ed Rush.

‘Boxcar’ [Drum & Bass]
The flipside sees Ed Rush change the pace but lose none of the attitude. Featuring rolling drums and ethereal vocals, Ed continues to bring the pain with serrated bass keeping the rave in check. Maintaining the same top level production as the A-side but pushing a different vibe, ‘Boxcar’ shows the versatility to Ed Rush’s productions and caps off a stunning debut from Piranha Pool.

Animal Defection – Donkey (Hanzo & Randie Remix) [Subculture Music]

“If you like your drum & bass, dubstep and electro with a European twist, Italian-based Subculture Music is for you. Co-founded by the mighty Maztek, the label brings pioneering electronic music forward into the future, and the label, run with Kalu and MC Shot, is ready to launch its new release, Shona/Donkey (Hanzo and Randie remix). Hanzo and Randie bring a funky, syncopated sound to their flavour of drum & bass, echoing influences like Audio, Ed Rush, Optiv and more, all of whom they have played alongside. After hooking up with Maztek and Subculture, they have never looked back. Now, they are taking their music to the forefront, showing off their style and production techniques. On Shona, a stirring, low-slung intro delicately glides into a strong build, before the whole thing drops down a level with a crunchy, rupturing bassline, and some neatly understated synths and rises. The melody seeps through underneath, as the speakers shake and the dancefloor quakes. Detailed, precise and technically brilliant, this is above and beyond your everyday drum & bass. Essential. On the flip, Hanzo and Randie remix fellow Italians Animal Defection’s Donkey. N4mSkull and GBee’s original from last year gets updated, reinvigorated and reimagined, as a sinewy, rolling intro moves into some electronic ground, before gathering pace to enter some neuro territory. Tough, smash-through beats come colliding at you, forcing home the point that Hanzo and Randie are at the top of their game. This one’s all about the funk, ramping it up to ever-higher levels. Taking no prisoners, they burn down the dance with their forceful remix, sending others running for the hills. Strong stuff. Subculture Music have unearthed two fantastic slices of vivid, contemporary drum & bass, allowing Hanzo and Randie to do what they do best, make bangers. These are guaranteed killers, so make sure you grab your copies straight away.”

Buy it now: http://download.breakbeat.co.uk/lpsepsartists/blokhe4d/lastdaysofdisco.aspx
Vinyl: http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/Info?Track=BT005

Rising from the ashes of legendary drum and bass outfit Bad Company who paved the way for the likes of Pendulum, comes an exciting new project masterminded by Maldini and Michael Vegas joined by US-born Swiss producer Uman (previously on DsCi4 and Viper). Following the release of tracks on their own Bad Taste imprint compilations, they showed their melodic side on a recent single for Hospital Records (‘Full Circle/Skyline’), before unveiling their true colours for their proper debut single.

And what a debut: with a razor-edged riff slashing throughout series of disco loops, ‘Last Days Of Disco’ has been annihilating dancefloors for the last few months in the hands of Andy C, Hype and all main players, and the subject of plenty of enthusiastic posts online.

Heist & Haddow – Inner Being

Fresh from Heist & Haddow, a very different style of drum & bass to what you’d normally hear from Heist, inspired by some old Bad Company tracks. Right now there is no set release, although expect plenty more from Heist in 2010. Post your thoughts in the comments!
