RAMLive – Aurora

After hitting you with four sets taken from our Eastern Electrics takeover during August, we return to the Green Room of XOYO for another RAMLive rollout. Still committed to bringing you undiscovered talent or DJ’s who might fly under your radar, this month we bring you Aurora. Another name drawn from the numerous mix submissions we’ve had since launching in February, Aurora has started to make a name for herself, with sets at Spearhead and Outlook Festival already under her belt – including warming up for none other than Calibre & DRS. With a passion for drum & bass cemented since hitting her first raves at 16 at venues such as The End and SE1, Aurora will guide you through a variety of styles, dishing out some liquid, some rollers and some jump up thrown in for good measure to create an eclectic mix for her RAMLive debut.

Submissions are still being considered so email your mixes to and please remember to make them downloadable and make sure they do not expire – we don’t want to miss out on the next future participant!

Why The Best Hope For Gun Control Isn’t Congress — It’s With The States (HBO)

As hundreds of thousands of people marched on Washington and local state legislatures, exercising their rights to vocally protest the gun lobby, advocates across the country have also been toiling away on a less visible plan for gun reform, taking it state by state.

In Colorado, three gun rights activists who lost family members in Columbine, Aurora, and Sandy Hook testified for lawmakers at two hearings. At the first, they spoke in support of legislation that proposed a ban on bump stocks — the accessory used in the 2017 Las Vegas shooting that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire faster. In the second hearing, they fought against a bill to repeal the current ban on high-capacity magazines.

Colorado is generally a pro-gun state, and so far, activists like Tom Mauser, Tom Sullivan, Jane Daugherty and other mass shooting survivors have had more losses than wins.

Though they believed their chances might be better this time around with the renewed momentum behind the national gun debate, state lawmakers didn’t take the bait. And even among those directly touched by gun violence, a consensus remains elusive: Patrick Neville, a Columbine survivor and lawmaker, tells us he doesn’t buy the idea that increased gun control will create safer schools or communities — and he’s far from alone.

Now two years old ‘Zeitgeist’ still sounds fresh! Here’s what we said at the time:

Camo & Krooked are back with their new album “Zeitgeist”. Two years on and the follow up to “Cross The Line” truly encapsulates the sound of Camo & Krooked 2.0. Already seeing heavyweight DJ support from across the board, “Zeitgeist” is jam-packed with disco, French house and minimal influences, which are merged together with the signature Camo & Krooked sound to form an awe-inspiring 15-track package. The album also features key collaborations with fellow Hospital star Metrik and Norwegian indie-electronic duo Lemâitre

Kicking things off is the epic “Turn Back The Time” which introduces us into this brave new world of sultry synths, sharp beats and disco-influenced aesthetics which form the backbone of the album. Then we have the familiar sounds of the ever-catchy undulating white noise of “All Night” and dancefloor detonator “Move Around (ft. Ian Shaw)”. Watch out for other gems including “Aurora (ft. Metrik)” with its epic trance-like soundscape, the soulful sounds of “Loving You Is Easy”, the enticing and experimental “Ruhepuls” and collaborative smasher “Dreamcatcher (ft. Lemaitre)” with its fidgety beats and infectiously upbeat vibe.

Expect the unexpected as Camo & Krooked continue to push the boundaries with their impressive opus, “Zeitgeist”. Like all the best albums, “Zeitgeist” makes sense as a whole and should be enjoyed from start to finish.
