Russian Economy Minister Alexey Ulyukayev was detained on suspicion of taking a $2 million bribe that allowed Rosneft to complete the deal on purchasing the government’s 50% stake in Bashneft.
According to Russia’s Investigative Committee Ulyukayev resorted to threats, attempting to extort money from Rosneft officials:
‘Minister has been monitored by FSB for more than a year’, ‘was caught red-handed when receiving bribe’.
